Need a last-minute gift idea for Father’s Day?
Buy him an hour of dog training! Even if you’re not in Lethbridge, I’m still training via zoom around the world
Remi (black] already knew how to get “shot” and stay “dead”, but teaching my grand-dogger right beside him added a new level of distraction.
When you live in the coldest place on earth, but still have a dog to tire out… make him tidy up his toys!
Too icy out there for humans, so this is what you do when you need to tire out your dog
I love the look on Libby’s face when Remi surprises her with his “mind reading” ability.
This is what we’re aiming for with “clicker“ training. Remi has learned to offer all kinds of behavior as he tries to figure out what I’m wanting him to do.
Our granddaughter, Libby, dumped Remi’s toy bucket over to see if she could teach him a new trick. Even with Sylvie trying to grab his reward he could stay focused.
A little more difficult for Remi to perform his “tidy up“ function when it comes from our granddaughter, who made the mess in the first place.
Tried something new today: “Tidy up“ but with a super “high value” treat. Normally Remi does really well but it was too hard to concentrate with a bully stick reward in view.
Remi’s next challenge: walk up stairs backwards
Dogs, like kids, should be taught to tidy up after themselves.
Another socialization opportunity for Remi; Poppet’s “Mini Me“
If you and your puppy need an opportunity to learn what proper socialization looks like give me a call.
At 11 weeks old, it only took Remi 3 days to learn to stay out of our bedroom. (The only carpet area) Of course he tests it once in a while, but I remind him the rule still applies.
At 4 months old, here’s a 10 minute test while I showered and left him unsupervised. (only 24 seconds time lapse)
Started Remi on another trick.
Training blooper: know when to quit! But try to end with a success... some thing simple to save face. 😜
Excuse the packing mess and be impressed with Remi the wonder dog!
Busy packing to get the house ready to show but training must continue.
Covid rules... “fist bump”?
