We have a work around though! To get to the clinic turn onto 5 Avenue South by the 7/11 and head to 24 Street South. Take 24th Street to 6 Avenue and turn toward Mayor Magrath. There will be a blockade that you are able to go passed to get to the parking lot.

This team fields calls, emails, reports, nutrition requests and ensures that you are greeted with a caring and compassionate smile. They are really able to organize any situation and keep smiling through the process. Let's show this final team some love as we head into the long weekend! These two teams right here are the behind the scenes magic and provide all of the support to our Veterinarians. These are some of our RVTs and VTAs! From running codes, to taking histories and running diagnostics, to monitoring surgeries this team works hard to ensure that the clinic is flowing and patients are being treated. We have a RVT and a VTA on site 24/7 watching over your pets! Your pet is never alone when they visit Family Pet!

Last, but certainly not least from our Veterinary team, Dr. Manoj Thomas! Dr. Thomas has been a part of our team for over 3 years now. He moved to Lethbridge to join the Family Pet Hospital team back in 2021. He has a passion for emergencies, and with the number of increasing emergencies this summer, he looks forward to tending to those pets in need. Dr. Thomas has a particular love for emergency surgery as well as dental surgery. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with his family and his daughter. They enjoy going on road trips together and spend lots of time relaxing and exploring Canmore. Additionally, Dr. Thomas enjoys hiking during the winter and is currently looking forward to when he can go snow hiking again! Dr. Thomas prides himself in his work and when it comes to the care of your animals, they will be in good hands with him.

Next up is our wonderful Dr. Chinju Johnson! Dr. Johnson has been a part of our team since 2021, when she moved her to join us here at Family Pet Hospital. Dr. Johnson has a love for working with cats as well as routine appointments and surgeries. She has recently returned back to work after becoming a mother last year! She has enjoyed motherhood over the last year and is excited to see her daughter continue to grow and blossom. Additionally, when not at work, Dr. Johnson loves spending time outside in her flower gardens, cooking, and road tripping around Alberta with her family! Dr. Johnson has a very sweet countenance about her and she does a wonderful job at bringing that with her to each appointment and putting that love into her work with each of your pets.

Up next is our other newest veterinarian, Dr. Georgia Van De Loo! Dr. Georgia joined our team in March, after she had moved to Lethbridge from New Zealand with Dr. Lowe. Dr. Georgia is a ray of sunshine in the clinic! She has a strong interest in caring for our ICU, in hospital, patients, surgery and dentistry. She loves to help care for your new puppies and kittens as well as your senior pets. Often you can find Dr. Georgia cuddling a pet in the vet office while she completes her notes! Since moving, Dr. Georgia has had the opportunity to explore the mountains and is looking forward to many more hiking adventures with Dr. Lowe and new friends!

Up next is one of our newest veterinarians, Dr. Mason Lowe! Dr. Lowe joined our team in March, after he had moved to Lethbridge from New Zealand. With his recent move to Canada, we have seen Dr. Lowes passion for hockey grow! He has had fun exploring Lethbridge and surrounding areas with his partner, Dr. Georgia. He is currently looking forward to seeing all that Alberta has to offer this summer as he goes fishing, boating, and, camping! Dr. Lowe is very passionate about emergency medicine and surgery. He found this passion during his schooling and has been quick to jump in on all of the emergency shifts. You will often find him spending late nights, at the clinic, helping the emergent patients. He is always ready to jump into action and be there to help your pet!

Up next is the amazing Dr. Kyle West! Dr. West worked with us as a vet student and won us over with his charm and caring nature towards his patients. He joined our family shortly after and has been with us for the last 2 years. He has always had a love for the smaller creatures, having grown up with hamsters, gerbils and even petsitting a few reptiles. This inspired his interest in exotics and we are so lucky to have him to address their needs. He prides himself on being very thorough and meeting your pet at their comfort level. Dr West is here for you and your furry (or scaly) pets all the way!

Starting off with our Managing Veterinarian, Dr. Amy Lister! Dr. Lister has been in the industry for quite some time and has been leading our team for the last 4 years. Coming from a long line of veterinarians, Dr. Lister is well rounded in her practice, from general care to emergency medicine. She has a strong interest in ultrasound, radiology, along with emergency and internal medicine. Those that have worked with or interacted with Dr. Lister, know that she has a wealth of knowledge to share. She is here for you and your pet every step of the way!

With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of our clinic cat Tigger Tigger has been a huge part of Family Pet Hospital team and we know she will be missed by so many. Tigger came into our care in January 2015 as an owner surrender and she was a perfect fit for our team! Tigger’s tail was amputated at a young age due to an injury that led her to have spinal damage that effected the way she could use her bladder and wasn’t able to empty it completely by herself. Being a part of our hospital, we knew she was going to have some special needs medically but we were more than happy taking care of her for as long as she needed. Over the past 8 years, Tigger has touched so many lives whether you are a client, or a present or past employee. Tigger had a special way of knowing just what you need when you needed it. You could find her greeting clients, playing hide and seek behind exam doors, playing with her favorite honey suckle cushion on the lobby floor, napping in the vet office, rubbing up on any K9 client that would let her. She always knew which client needed to smile or laugh when their spirits were a little low or just sitting quietly beside, providing some extra comfort while they were worried about their fur baby. We know that she will be welcomed over the bridge and greeted by all of our loved ones and pets that have crossed before her. She will tell them all how much we miss them and love them in her comforting way. We encourage you to share your favorite Tigger memory
This is Ares, a very friendly 3 year old husky. Eight weeks post TPLO surgery, he is walking and well on his way to recovery! Proper physiotherapy and rehab is very important for complete recovery. Ares is happy, feeling more and more himself everyday!

3-year-old Mylo broke his left front leg back in January of this year. His owner was referred to Family Pet Hospital from a clinic in Medicine Hat, and she made the long drive here to visit Dr. Jacob for Mylo’s surgery. Repairing a broken bone in such a small dog is always interesting, because the plate and screws we use are very small! Mylo came back in recently for his 9-week recheck, and he was running around as if the injury had never happened! His owner said it took about a week before he started putting weight back on the leg, which is normal for small dogs following this type of surgery. Seeing the patient and his owner so happy with the outcome was very rewarding, and Mylo’s curly tongue was making everyone smile! 🐶
"Pesto" had to come see us after swallowing a large piece of rawhide chew. He was repeatedly vomiting and was quite uncomfortable. First, Dr. Kendra took X-rays to determine where the rawhide had become lodged. Unfortunately, it had become stuck in the esophagus just above the heart and we needed to get it out. Dr's. Kendra, Amin and Hanna, along with our technicians and assistants, worked together to anesthetize "Pesto" and pass our flexible endoscope to grab the rawhide. The procedure took a lot of patience! Dr. Amin managed to pull the rawhide most of the way out with the the retrieval tool but had to reach in with his hand to get it the rest of the way out. Other than a sore throat, "Pesto" is doing well! More videos and pics in comments!

Midnight came in from Medicine Hat at 11:30 a.m. and we were able to repair his broken leg. His pet parents Sharon & Ray came in to pick him up at 5:00 p.m. Midnight is expected to make a full recovery! Dr. Jacob was glad he was able to help Midnight.
