Ruby’s playmates this week have been Bailey, Cooper and Suzy. They were able to play outdoors for the first couple of days. Then their play was indoors with limited access to the yard. Their safety this week was a priority. We had our oil furnace removed and a Heatpump installed. Our gates were open and the workers were in and out. I did get the sad ‘woe is me’ eyes a few times but I knew they’d survive.
Thank you so much to Bailey’s dad, Dave, for the use of his heavy duty ‘dolly’ and for coming to help move both our old oil tanks. Our daddy is still in recovery and unable to lift those weights just yet. We sure appreciate you!
Bailey needed to stay indoors and wasn’t allowed to go see his dad during this time. It was obvious he knew his daddy was outdoors, but he never complained. Such a good boy!
Cooper is enjoying his extended visit and doesn’t seem to mind the indoors. During the day the sun shone and kept our house warm without the use of a furnace. At night everyone was cozy and warm snuggled in their blankets. No one complained, even though there was more than the usual amount of snuggle time this week.
We’re back in business today and the dogs are looking forward to using the entire yard for their play!
Next week Ruby will be joined by, Bailey, River, Karma, Cooper and Poppy will return. We’re hoping for continued sunshine.

Ruby had another fun week with us. It started with one more day with playmate Bailey. Her fun continued with playmates, Karma, Cooper, Suzy Q and Poppy! We only see Poppy periodically and we sure love it when she’s here!
Poppy is another one of our little spitfire girls. Her exuberant energy and wiggling little body has melted a place in our hearts so easily. I think she’s finding her way into 3 yr old Ruby’s heart as well. Ruby used her best self-control skills around her. She kept asking 6 yr old Poppy to play even after Poppy had grown tired of her game. They were fun to watch and definitely had me watching very close. Suzy Q & Cooper stayed close to the side lines and gave them the room they needed to play.
Our furnace replacement has been rescheduled for next week. I’m not disappointed. Our old faithful oil furnace continues to keep us warm even through our cold snap. I sure hope the new Heat Pump will deliver as many years of service as this one has.
Next week will be a close repeat of the last few weeks of playmates. I’ve been having fun doing photo shoots getting ready for next Friday. Stay tuned

Miss Ruby, Countess River, Cooper, Suzy Q, Bailey & Henry!
Yes, it’s been a fun weekend! Ruby’s favourite weather has returned!
It began as a teasing of snow and turned into a blowing blizzard. Accuweather says it’s only -10 ° C but my Accu Rite device says otherwise. Brrr
The dogs had fun in the preamble of it and today at 4:30 am, my remaining visitors, Bailey and Ruby were already loving the cold snap!
Me? Not so much. We have a furnace swap and replace scheduled for Tuesday and this weather has certainly curbed my enthusiasm. Never mind.

Ruby’s visit this week began with sunny days and a few quiet playmates. Karma, Cooper and Suzy Q. None of which were really up to playing rough and tumbling games with her. Karma tried to convince her a few times that he could give her a good romp. But Ruby was reminded that he likes her ankles and made sure to shun his advances. Smart thinking Ruby, a good decision to play with a good old squeaky ball instead.
Karma quite happily set off in search of just the right frozen snow patch to get his daily ice quota before Spring arrives.
Suzy and Cooper mostly sat quietly in the sunshine and watched the goings on. The first few days of the week were definitely quiet. Tomorrow Countess River will join Ruby and Suzy for an overnight visit.
Then Sir Henry and Bailey will be here this weekend, and Ruby will get the romps and zooms she’s been asking for. Look out Suzy and Cooper, you best stay out of the way.
It’s going to be a great way to say hello to February.

Cooper & Suzy Q started last week off for a happy relaxed week of fun. The sun was shining and the temps were mild.
Then we had a full return to winter weather. Not a favourite of these two little heat lovers. Still, they made the best of it and had fun playing with their newly chosen toys.
River and Karma on the other hand loved the snow and had a blast in it.
By the weekend the sun was already doing its best to melt the snow. It didn’t much matter to Sir Henry and his lady friend Miss Lilly. They romped and played indoors and out oblivious to the weather.
Sir Henry will be back again next week along with Miss Ruby, Countess River, Karma, Cooper, a likely hood of Suzy Q and yes, Bailey will be back too! What a fun lineup!
I wonder if Ruby’s favourite weather will return?

It was such a relaxing easy week I almost forgot to post the photos of the visitors. Lilly, Bailey, Karma, Cooper, Suzy, and River.
Easy going fun times with a few new toys. Yes, we went to the city and of course visited Total Pets. They had a few stuffed squeaker toys at a reduced price! Yep, they caught my eye.
Our new squeaky balls also arrived. We’ll definitely be having some sunny days full of squeaks in the near future. Yay!
Daddy is healing very well. He still has another month to recover and I’m totally enjoying having him home.
This week will be a few relaxing days with cuddle bugs, Karma, Cooper and River.
Three total squeaker lovers. I’ll try to capture a few of their happy chew times.

Lilly's energy matched Bailey's earlier this week. Bailey found it easier to listen to Lilly's cues. They had a day full of romping and no one called time out.

This very short video shows why I believe in monitoring dogs playing. Sometimes dogs need assistance to get their point across.

Bailey is full of fun and love for all his buddies. He loves to have limitless puppylike contact play. Even his best buddies who normally zoom, romp, bite, rough and tumble can need a Bailey break.
I know Lilly loves Bailey and it appears to me she’s being gentle in her request to end the play. It’s as though she approaches me to end the play. It appears that Bailey is so happy to have her with him he misses her cues to end the play.
After this video we all stayed close and walked around the yard together at various paces. It gave Lilly the opportunity to show Bailey she’d much rather just zoom together without physical interactions. Such a smart little girl. Bailey did finally ‘get it’.

It was a fun week full of happy dogs, Ruby, Suzy, Karma, Poppy, Cooper, Lilly & Bailey. The weather was quite chilly, but the sky was mostly clear.
Last week a good friend posted photos of her visitor playing with a new toy and I loved it so much I googled where to find one. The new growly hedgehog toy arrived and Ruby, Suzy and Poppy had fun playing with it. Poppy wasn’t entirely sure what to make of it, she decided to carry it around and found a cozy place just to hold it. I for one, think it’s a hit and love the growly sounds it makes, very different from the normal squeaks. For now, it’s indoor only.

Our new addition went for a few zoomies through town then underwent a thorough checkup before winter storage. She’s shiny again with a belly full of oil and antifreeze and a disconnected battery. She’s cozy under her Mini cover now for a restful winter sleep. See you in the Spring ‘Me Mini’.

We have a trip to Kamloops planned next week. I’ll be on the lookout for a few more good quality plush squeakers. Too many of our outdoor toys have lost their squeak and they’re now little more than pieces of raggedy cloth for tug games. Paws crossed I find what I’m looking for. Stay tuned.

Last week was split between the last days of 2024 & the first few days of 2025.
We enjoyed visits from 3 boys and a girl ~ Bailey, Karma, Cooper and Ruby.
Super easy, relaxing, wander and rest days. A perfect end to the old, 2024 and a great way to bring in the new, 2025.
January is looking slow and easy and I’m going to take advantage of it. Winter has definitely arrived, but it’s still comfortable enough to head outdoors with just a cardie on.
I’m feeling rested and looking forward to the year.
Daddy is still healing but well on the road to normalcy. He took a day trip with our son and grandson and purchased a new addition to our fleet.
If you see his little gem on the road, say hi! I'm calling her, Winnie.
