Thank you to everyone who looked for her!

***MISSING*** update- she may have been seen in the Briarwood Ave area and may come out to other dogs! She is very friendly, but is obviously scared and disoriented now.

MARCH IS NATIONAL TICK AWARENESS MONTH!

The time for tick protection is now! The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and Cambray Vet Services want you to know that the ideal time to begin tick protection is now.

Ticks start to look for an animal (or a person) to feed on as soon as the temperature reaches 4ยบC and above, which, in our area, means right about now! It doesn't matter if there is still snow on the ground!

Tick populations are increasing in our area, as they are in many parts of Canada. Because some ticks can transmit diseases, such as Lyme disease, itโ€™s important to learn as much as you can about them.
We recommend using Bravecto starting in March for 3 months of protection against fleas and ticks.
Call 705-328-3470 for more information.

PSA: Positive Rabid Bat Prompts Warning from Health Unit

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is warning residents to be cautious around bats after receiving confirmation that a bat tested positive for rabies in the Brighton area.

Rabies is almost always a fatal disease caused by a virus that affects the central nervous system of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Rabies is transmitted when there is contact with the saliva of an infected animal through a bite, lick or scratch.

A post-exposure vaccine is available for humans in the event of contact with a rabid animal.

Although the percentage of rabies in bats is low across Ontario, bats are wild animals and should not be approached or touched. Never try to catch a bat or keep one as a pet. If you have bats living on your property and want to remove them, contact a professional pest control company or wildlife removal company.
