I wanted to express sincere gratitude to the Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic. On Friday, Jan 21st my tracking dog Argo was healthy and full of life. After work, we went for a walk and a few hours after we returned, he began vomiting. He was unable to eat and every time he drank, he would vomit within minutes. This went on all night and in the morning he was vomiting blood. I called KVEC in Peterborough and brought him in first thing in the morning. Argo was already dehydrated and needed medical assistance. The KVEC staff were amazing and the veterinarians were able to determine the most likely cause and get him back on his feet within 24 hrs. The diagnosis was Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis from Clostridium perfringens bacteria. When we were on our walk, Argo must have ingested something while he was off-leash and it almost killed him. It was an expensive and stressful weekend, but I'm grateful to KVEC for saving my tracking partner's life.
