Let’s talk about stress baby 💊
When we first met this sweet girly, she was hesitant in allowing us to touch her feet.
She was nervous, unsure and good as being sneaky!
We spoke about the benefit to using a ‘relax pack’ and recommended her mom reach out to her regular veterinary facility to discuss if this would be a good safe option for her.
Now, she comes with her “special treats” on board and she enjoys our treats from a slow feeder and allows us to trim her nails with no signs of stress.
If your dog is anxious or fearful of having their feet touched, having their nails trimmed or even meeting new people, we suggest speaking with your regular veterinarian about the options available to help reduce the stress your pet feels when having to encounter a stressful event.
It doesn’t need to be a long term solution, but is a great tool in helping ensure they know that nothing bad is going to happen to them.

Did you know??
Cats require their nails to be trimmed routinely just like our dogs.
Their nails can easily grow into their pads and cause pain and infection if not trimmed often.
Senior pets often will also get very thickened nails as due to arthritis and other conditions, they may not be extending their nails and shedding their nail covering.
Come on out tonight for Nail Night for your dogs and cats Pawdicure.

Look Familiar?
👀
Have you ever worn a shoe that was a little too small for you and it pushed against your toe nails??
You can’t wait to get those shoes off and never put them on again.
Imagine your pets feeling that way all day long and not being able to remove the shoe
Over grown nails cause pain and discomfort and can cause deformities to the nail it’s self
Come see us Wednesday nights from 7-9pm at 740 Binning St W for a nail trim by a Registered Veterinary Technician.
I will be going for surgery tomorrow which will leave me with a 6 week recovery period.
D O N T S T R E S S
Nail nights will continue on during this time!
Our wonderful Emma will be continue to service the Wednesday nail nights from 7-9pm at the same location!
❔❓what does this mean?
The difference will be that Emma will need some assistance from you parents, similar to when Emma was away at school and I used your assistance.
Please be patient with us while we navigate and understand we may be slower than normal responding to your messages!
I hope to see you out in the shop in a few weeks as a chair ornament giving treats!

Anesthetic free dental “cleanings” do not replace preventative dental care with your veterinary team.
*
*
This is a hot topic that often has a lot of large feelings.
*
*
I am happy to help educate and explain why this is so unsafe and harmful to your pets.
Would you let your hairdresser clean your teeth? 🤔
So, why let your groomer or an unlicensed individual clean your pets teeth?
Would you like to be wrapped up in a tight blanket, held upside down with a sharp tool in your mouth? 🤨
This is the reality of anesthesia free dental cleanings. 😫
It is NEVER acceptable to scrape tartar off of your pets teeth when they are awake!
Time and time again we are seeing cosmetic teeth cleaning being performed on your pets and it causes your pets great anxiety and trauma.
Pet owners are led to believe that this cosmetic service works, when that is all it is...cosmetic! 😩
People feel they have done something good for their pet because it makes teeth LOOK great, and may even temporarily improve bad odour.
The dark reality of this deceptive practice is that the real problems are only disguised, not fixed.
This leaves pets suffering in silence with no one advocating for them.
Anesthesia free dental cleanings are far from a Fear Free approach.
If you have concerns about your pets oral health, speak to your veterinarian.

WoW! What an amazing 10 months its been! I have been working in Veterinary Medicine for..oh gosh..7 years now! That just sounds crazy when you put it into words!
When I first started my schooling I was bound and determined I was going to work with Cattle. Those who know me know I still love the thought of getting back into Bovine Medicine, but..life has a funny way of choosing your life for you!
When I was in school to become a RVT, I had my son! Those of you who have had the pleasure to meet him know he is spirited and humorous! I like to think he shares my love for animals..and talking!
I have been working in a small animal(dog/cat) hospital as a RVT for the last 4 years. During this time, I got an opportunity to work at an Emergency Veterinary Hospital which was such an amazing experience and really did help me grow my skill set as a RVT!
Those in the field will tell you that no one gets into this field for their love of humans..however..I’m kind of the odd ball out of that theory. I love my clients! I love getting to know you, your family and everything in between! I think that building a genuine relationship with your clients is so important! I often have to remind myself that I can’t stay and chat all day while cuddling your pets!
So..if life was so great, being a mom and working full time..why in the world did I start Pawdicures???
Well, I had a long time client before Pawdicures had even become a thought..she has a rescue pup who suffers from severe anxiety! He didn’t like being touched..wouldn’t come near you..not even for treats! I went over weekly just sitting on the floor with a bucket of treats, talking to his human and praying that he would come near me. After multiple visits, it finally happened! He took a treat from my hand! Eventually, he let me pet him and then, I was able to have him between my legs as I trimmed a paw. Slowly but surely he gained trust in me..I have now been trimming his nails for almost 2 wonderful years!
It was so rewarding to be able to not only help him, but help his mom!
In the summer of 2019 I was approached by a family who had a senior grey hound. Her mobility wasn’t great and getting into the clinic or to a groomer was just not an option. It seemed that after this, I was hearing more and more that there was a need for someone to go into homes to help with senior or anxious pets. Shortly after..Pawdicures came to life and I have had such an amazing response from all of you!
I am so passionate about ensuring your furbabies always have the most comfortable experience that I can provide. In order to achieve this, I attend regular conferences and seminars on Fear Free and Low Stress Handling Techniques.
I look forward to being able to get to know you and your furbaby!
