A few days ago, we did an experiment with Deputy Chief Inspector, Paul Hunter. He sat outside for 15 minutes at -11 degrees to show the dangers of leaving your pets in the cold. ๐ฅถ
Immediately after, we chatted (in a warm room!) through the experiment, learned tips on how pets show us they're too cold, and what to do if you see an animal left outside during low temperatures. โ
What is one thing our guest said that surprised you? Let us know in the comments. ๐พ

Cold weather isnโt just tough on hoomans, but on our pets too. Yes, even those who love winter. โ
So, we decided to put ourselves in our petโs paws as much as possible. Deputy Chief Inspector with the Nova Scotia SPCA, Paul Hunter, sat outside for 15 minutes at -11 degrees to show the dangers of leaving your pets outside in the cold. After only five minutes, his body was fighting the drop in temperature. ๐ฅถ

Hot Car Experiment
โThe windows are open.โ โIโll park in the shade.โ โItโs windy and Iโll be quick.โ These are three of the most common excuses people give when they leave their pet in a hot vehicle. ๐
Special Constable Kevin Strooband, Deputy Chief Inspector at the Nova Scotia SPCA, locked himself in a car to demonstrate the dangers. ๐ฅ Even though the windows were cracked, the van was shaded by a tree AND there was a breezeโฆ the internal temperature skyrocketed to almost 45ยฐC within 20 minutes! ๐ฒ
