SAFETY TIPS FOR TONIGHT’S CELEBRATIONS

1. Exercise Your Dog Beforehand 🎾
This could mean a game of fetch, tug, a long walk; whatever would help get some energy out.

2. Buddy System 🐕🐩
Consider a ‘buddy’ to help keep your dog calm; either sit in the room with your dog or have another calm dog in the same area so they aren’t alone.

3. Pet ID Tags 💥
If your dog MUST be outdoors, ensure s/he has ID tags and double check your fence. Just because your dog doesn’t leave your yard doesn’t mean they won’t find a way out if scared.

4. Distract Your Dog 🥩🥏
If you’re staying home, consider doing a fun training session with your dog using toys or treats to keep him/ her preoccupied.

5. Quiet & Secure Space 😴
Keep your dog indoors, in a calm, quiet and secure space such as the basement, garage, a kennel etc.

6. White Noise 🎵🎶
Consider turning on a fan, playing music, the radio or relaxing nature sounds to help soften the sudden sounds of fireworks.

7. Don’t Bring Your Dog 🛑
Unless you have done extensive training and work to desensitize your dog to the sound of gunshots/ fireworks and know s/he is already comfortable being in close range of that type of environment, don’t risk it. Keep your dog in a safe area at home.

*OBEDIENCE CLASS NOTICE*

We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be announcing another set of classes as previously planned for May & June. We will complete our current set of classes (running April 3rd - May 8th), but after that I will be taking time to focus on my family and health.
I plan to have classes running again by August/ September.

We encourage you to reach out to the Lloydminster Kennel & Obedience Club in the meantime and sign up for their upcoming classes (beginning this Tuesday, April 2nd 7-8pm at the Exhibition Grounds) if those times work for you.

Additionally, there are many other options within the City of Lloydminster such as Puppy classes through the local veterinary offices, group classes at Flatlands Kennels, Ruff's Boarding and many opportunities for dog sports and dog related clubs in and around our city.

Meet ✨Summit✨
This lovable and excitable boy is one of the adoptable dogs at Border Paws!! 😍

Summit came to Puppy Luv to get in some one on one training time with our staff while their new kennels were being set up. We went over the basics which he picked up fast and with enthusiasm (as you can see in the video we have shared in our Facebook story).

This puppy is very eager to learn and excelled with having a task to do with the trainer!! He would love a home on an acreage or farm where he can be outdoors lots but also benefit from continued training with his owner.

Meet Chaplin, an adoptable dog at Border Paws Animal Shelter!! 🩵🐾

We have had the privilege of getting to know Chaplin over the last little bit after he tried our daycare to make some new friends and work on his basic skills/ manners. While here, he also had a groom which he did so well with (despite it possibly being his first professional groom).

Chaplin will continue to play with our crew in daycare until he is adopted, but in the meantime please share to help this handsome and fun guy an active forever home!! 😄
