At 4 weeks old we are clumsy, starting to find our voice, and of course slow motion playing… and I love it!!!

The past couple days have been hot… HOT!!! ☀️☀️☀️

Always remember when we are out walking in this heat, we have protection from our shoes to prevent heat burns to our feet… our dogs not so much. Always test the pavement/concrete with your own bare foot first before taking your pup outside, if it’s hot on your foot… it’s going to burn your pups pads!!! Have you ever wondered HOW tiny your fur babies are when born?

The first picture is a puppy that is 3 days old, the second is a puppy that is 6 weeks old. When our Chihuahua Terrier puppies are born they can weigh anywheres from 50-100 grams… GRAMS!!! 🤯
Our goal is to have the puppies at or above the 750-800 gram mark and 6 weeks or older of age before they have their first set of vaccinations for the puppies optimal safety and to help prevent any vaccination reactions. In order to have our puppies reach that weight in such a short amount of time it is critically important for us here to be doing all that we can to help with the development of the puppies, the following are just a few of our main steps taken for mother and puppies:

1 - feeding our mothers a nursing formula that includes a higher protein and fat ratio
2 - include calcium products to mothers daily intake to help promote a better milk supply
3 - de worming our puppies AND mothers every two weeks to help prevent intestinal parasites to reserve nutrients for the puppies and puppies only
4 - rotating puppies feeding to ensure mother does not develop mastitis
5 - ensuring mother has daily activity to prevent joint stiffness, mastitis, infections, etc.
6 - disinfecting whelping pens multiple times a day to ensure the safest environment possible for mother and puppies

I love when families arrive to our kennel and meet the puppies that are ready to be adopted to see their reactions of how tiny they are, but this is truly how small your fur babies are the first couple days of their lives. and I absolutely love watching each litter develop and grow into their own selves, it’s a crazy few weeks getting them to the stage of re homing but it is completely worth it 🥰❤️

Miss Mables puppies are striving ✨🐾

Mables litter for this year of 4 handsome males and 1 beautiful female 🥰 momma and pups are all doing amazing, father Hank is a very proud dad as well. Two very special puppies rehomed to a very special family 💜

This lovely family came out early spring for their Chihuahua Terrier girl Winnie and while being here they fell in love with our girl Bud (German Shepard/our greeter). We had the absolute pleasure of having them come back a few weeks ago to pick out their German Shepard boy to adopt 💙 As many of you know I LOVE to know what names the families pick for our puppies, and when they had said they were naming him Gus it brought me instant tears. My grandfathers name was Gus, (August) the founder breeder in our family and where we get our kennel name from, any time a family names their puppy Gus it truly brings me complete happiness, thank you guys again for giving our puppies the best future possible, these two are best buddies already 🥰❤️💙
