‘Tis the season for fleas! these tiny parasitic insects can cause discomfort to our pets, along with our homes. They can live up to 100 days, jump up to 13 inches in distance, and a female flea can lay up to 40 eggs per day… yikes! here are a few ways we can help prevent fleas from bothering our pets and homes:

- regular grooming with a flea comb
- bathing our pets with Dawn dish soap
- limiting the time our pets are outside, watching they are not rolling in the grass
- keeping our homes clean; vacuuming carpets, washing bedding regularly, etc.
- speaking with your vet about flea treatments that are best suited for your pet

The picture below shows areas that are most common to find these nasty insects, but always remembering to be doing a total body check to ensure we are not missing any area they may find as their home on our pets.

We have so much to be thankful for here at G.V Winn Kennals; healthy dogs, forever bonds we gain with families, updates on puppies that have been re homed, puppy kisses, the list goes on. What I am extremely grateful for is that I get to do what I love each and every day, it truly means the world that I can share my love and compassion with each of our puppies and watch them develop and grow with love and dedication with their forever families. Here are a few that are specially lucky for their future families soon ❤️🦃

For those who ask, “what does G.V Winn stand for?” I feel today is a suited day to explain how we came up with our name. G.V stands for my grandfathers initials, and Winn is my married name, it may be a tongue twister to some but for us we would not have it any other way. Our kennel was my grandfather’s, he is the man who started it all, my husband and I did not have to think twice about having his name in it to carry his memory on. Today is his 88th birthday, and there is not a day go by that I don’t walk down the isle in the kennel and wish I was still following him down it. Happy birthday Grandpa, words will never describe how much you are missed by everyone ❤️❤️❤️
