UPDATE on Siamese Hoarding Situation
Please refrain from sending further donations.
We have been informed that the Sarnia Humane Society has intervened to take custody of the indoor cats.
Kate, from Lambton Rescue based in Sarnia, contacted the police yesterday due to concerns about the number of animals at the house.
The police conducted a welfare check, and Kate subsequently contacted PAWS. At the time, she was advised to take proactive measures and contact other rescues and foster homes.
However, she was not informed that the Sarnia Humane Society would assume control of the situation.
As is standard practice for rescues, we promptly sought to obtain the necessary resources to provide assistance. Registered charitable rescues, such as ours, operate in a state of constant readiness to respond to emerging situations. We collaborate as a unified team, comprising various locations, to provide support to one another.
We would like to emphasize that we are not affiliated with the Sarnia Humane Society, and our involvement in this situation was entirely innocent. We hope the public understands this circumstance.
Kate and her TEAM are amazing people and at this time she is feeling very distraught as if she did something wrong. KATE you did nothing wrong! You were their voice yesterday and thank goodness someone did something as I had heard that this was going on for a long long time. We all give our heart and soul to rescue 7 days a week 10-15 hours per day no compensation, no holidays and yet many of us are criticized, cursed at and threatened. It truly affects many rescuers and some have even committed su***de due to all the bullying etc.
SHAME ON EVERYONE that does this. Come and step into our shoes for a week I can tell you you wouldn't through to lunch the first day.
We all want to thank those who immediately stepped up yesterday to show your support and love for animals.
We are still willing to help with the overload taken in by the Sarnia Humane
Society if they want to reach out to us.
