Frisco, 1 year old neutered male
~90lbs

Look at this distinguished gentleman! Handsome? ✅
Playful? ✅
Friendly? ✅✅✅

This gentle giant is looking for a fun-loving family that will take him for nice walks, allow him to romp around in the snow and give him a nice plush bed to sleep on 🥰

Frisco loves everybody he meets, he likes to jump up to kiss faces as a greeting- as cute as that may be we are working on curbing that behavior and keeping all four feet on the floor. He is a clever boy and is learning but sometimes he gets so excited that he forgets, he will need a family that will continue teaching him not to jump up!

Frisco plays very nicely with other dogs but would do best in a home without cats. He is obedient, responsive and quite good on walks! While he hasn't met many children at the shelter, we believe he would be okay to live in a home with older, dog-savvy children (small children may get knocked over by the burly guy!).

For more information, please call the shelter at 519-685-1330. Our dog adoption fee is $365- he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for parasites and comes with 2 years fee waived City of London license.

We can all learn a lot from dogs.

We can learn to find compassion & empathy.

We can learn to put away our differences & work together to help those in need.

We can learn to live & love with our whole heart and without conditions attached.

One week ago our little Eadie had her reconstructive surgery. And although the first 48 hours went extremely well, she sadly completely tanked after that. It gets better shortly so don't worry!

Eadie was rushed by emergency to our amazing clinic (cheers to you Strathroy Animal Clinic) while they worked together with her surgeon to support these new & unexpected events. Because although the surgery was a huge success (so far no urinary incontinence & the reconstruction looks amazing), she was unable to pass stool via the new path.

This has been a VERY scary & expensive week. Prognosis was super guarded there for a while. I don't think any of us have slept a wink. And while the professionals handled her care by day in hospital, I managed it (under their direction) by myself at night (dear family & rescue stuff & work- so sorry for my tiredness or delays this past week).

The good news- as of yesterday afternoon I feel MUCH better about everything, her I.V. is out & she's learning to p**p on her own (hooray). We ARE continuing to go through the MANY wonderful applicants to find her a best fit forever soon. Things are looking up. (She's wanting to be zoomy again)

But what can we learn from dogs? Well, my little crew- they really aren't big fans of a puppy at all. They tolerate her shenanigans but beyond that, they're past their forever looking after puppies, former puppymill mom days.

Except for this week when Eadie has needed them most. They've just been there. As a group, they know she needed help & support & that's exactly what they've done.

May we all learn from dogs.

Practice kindness & support one another simply because it's the right thing to do.

And Eadie, as of this morning, although not in the clear yet- She's back to bugging them & doing all good things that puppies do.

Onwards & upwards. Back to the good stuff ♡.

ADOPTED🎉

Hi there, my name is Callie, I'm a 7 month old Boxer mix girl looking for a place to call my forever home. If you are looking for a carefree, happy and lovable puppy who is always up for a new adventure, look no further! I don't like to brag, but my foster mom is so proud of how well I am doing with my manners, crate training, house training and leash walks. In fact, she thinks I am really intelligent because of how quickly I am learning basic obedience commands and how good I am at recall for such a young puppy.

I can be a bit shy in new situations and may try to keep my distance with some people until I get to know you, but with some positive prompts, toys, and TREATS, I'll be your shadow in no time. I love going for walks, romping around playing tug of war & fetch, ripping up scent enrichment toys and playing with my dog friends. At the end of the day my favourite thing to do is cuddle at your feet while you watch tv or read a book.

I get along with other dogs and think I would do well in a home with a larger dog who can help teach me the ropes. An active family with a yard so I have a safe space to romp around would be ideal. I promise to bring joy and laughter into your life with my playful antics and boundless energy. I'm eager to learn and grow with you. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who will love you unconditionally. I'm ready to start our adventure together, are you?

The most desperate of times...

All across Canada shelters & rescues are full. Over my own socials I've seen posts about rescues closing for good & shelters closed to anyone not extremely urgent because there is no more room.

Daily I answer dozens of emails asking for assistance. And although we are among the lucky few that do have open foster spaces, I too need to leave these for the ones that truly need help the most. Because there is no where left to go...

Desperate times cause people to do desperate things.

Meet 10 year old Hope.

I wish I knew her real name. I'd love to be able to gift her at least one thing she knows. Hope is super sweet, & she's super well behaved.

Her story, it just plain stinks. It's been shared that her person did try & surrender her to a shelter but when told they were full, this same dog was discovered as a "stray" only a couple of blocks away immediately afterwards- just missing her harness and leash.

When I first heard this, I admit- I thought- wow- dumping her- humans can be terrible.

And that- was an incredibly wrong statement to make.

Why?

Because someone out there loved this dog. They taught her all kinds of things & she's been an excellent house guest so far. Someone out there has shown this dog love & gentle hands. She's pretty much the perfect girl.

And maybe, taking a different perspective, someone out there found themselves in such a desperate situation that they honestly didn't know what to do.

And if that's the case. I hope you find the safety and peace you need. I'm grateful to our partners- in this case- No Paw Left Behind for bringing Hope to our attention too. *and the adorable photo.

And so the name.

HOPE ♡.

Hope for change.

Hope for looking at things differently.

Hope for kinder hearts.

Hope for better days ahead.

Welcome to Happy's Place Hope, your next chapter awaits ❤️

Harris- 11 years- male- 13 pounds

We are happy to re-introduce you to this fine looking distinguished gentleman!

-this super smart boy loves puzzle toys & learning new things. He listens very well.
-kind gentle & sensitive soul -very cuddly & affectionate. Loves to be close to his people & give hugs.
-great on leash. Great recall too. LOVES his walks
-good with other dogs of all sizes
-good with children.
-good with cats
-likes to sleep on a bed with you if possible- sleeps through the night
-best car traveler!
- Great mobility- great on stairs
- House trained
- Loves outdoor adventures-enjoys camping, the cottage, social outings like hockey games etc

Harris originally came to Happy's place in early Spring 2024 after his only parent moved into a long term care home. He was adopted & moved in with a couple who took him on many great camping trips & adventures. Unfortunately, this couple (who did take excellent care of him), visits a warmer climate due to a health issue for the winter months & will be in a condo/gone longer days so they opted to return him recently. Harris is not yet a fan of being alone longer days. Please note- Harris's fosters DO work themselves.

His vetting is up to date with us, he is neutered & is a healthy fellow. Dental is done Spring 2024. Harris was placed on a low dose of fluoxetine to handle his stressful newer transitions. You & your vet may decide to wean him off this together.

His ideal family would have someone who is either retired, works from home or has the time for him to get used to being alone for the day (after barking for a while-he naps)

To make Harris a part of your family, applications to adopt can be found on our website at www.happysplace.ca or by clicking here: https://happysplace.ca/adoption-application/

Harris's adoption fee will be a donation of your choosing to the rescue to support the other dogs in our care. He is currently fostered in Thornhill ON.
