German shepherds are an athletic and high-energy breed of dog that demand multiple hours of daily activity. It isn’t always easy to know when your pup needs some extra exercise, but keeping these behaviors in mind will provide some better insight into whether you’ll need to make some changes to their routine. Symptoms of a restless dog include destructive behavior, excessive barking, weight gain, lethargy, and depression. Are you searching for more information about how to properly care for your dogs? We'd love to help with that! Call us at 519-672-1210 for all your care questions.

Don't miss your pet's vaccination appointment! Vaccines work by introducing a weakened form of a virus into the body which stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies. These antibodies then protect your pet from the virus, and can even prevent it from becoming ill if it comes into contact with the virus in the future. Is it time to get your pet vaccinated? Schedule a vaccination appointment with us today at 519-672-1210.

Dog owners should be vigilant about checking what they give their dogs. It is possible for some ingredients to be remarketed under different names, which can lead to confusion. It is important to remember that xylitol poisoning can result in hypoglycemia, seizures, and even death in dogs. We urge you to contact us at 519-672-1210 right away if your pet ingested this ingredient by accident.

Regular dental cleanings are an important part of your dog's overall health care regimen. This is because it helps to prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar, which can cause periodontal disease. It also helps to detect any underlying issues with your dog's teeth or gums and can prevent any from developing into more serious problems down the line. As of August 1st 2024, the USA has new travel requirements for DOGS coming in to the US from low risk for rabies countries.
Canada is a low risk country.

When crossing the border, along with your Rabies vaccine certificate, you will need to:

1) fill out a form stating that the dog has been in Canada ( or other low risk for rabies country) for at least 6 months

https://www.cdc.gov/importation/dogs/dog-import-form-instructions.html

Additional requirements are
2) the dog is to be 6 months or older
3) has a scannable microchip
4) appears healthy on arrival at the border.

These are new guidelines issued by the government of the United States. We have no control over them in Canada. If you have questions or concerns, you must reach out to the CDC.

Kittens require a large amount of energy – almost two to three times that of an adult cat! They also need about 30% of that energy to come from protein. Make sure that the food you are feeding them is specifically formulated for kittens to ensure that they are receiving all the important nutrients your fur baby needs to grow strong and healthy! Your kitten will need to eat kitten-specific food until it reaches maturity at about one year of age. Not sure what is best for your cat? Contact us at 519-672-1210 to set up a health plan purr-fectly tailored to their needs!

Typically, puppies require about 6 to 10 hours of sleep daily. Every puppy is different, with some needing up to 20 hours a day to maintain their high levels of energy. However, by 16 weeks, most breeds will be able to sleep throughout the night. Daytime napping is perfectly healthy for your growing baby dog and is nothing to be concerned about. Sleep is essential for healthy development, and creating a schedule will help your pupper get the right balance of sleep and play time. New dog? 🐶 We can't wait to meet your furry family member! Schedule their visit today at 519-672-1210.
