🚨 THIS FRIDAY 🚨 If you haven't done your dog's heartworm test this year... consider donating blood!

First-time donors receive a free 4DX blood test (screens for heartworm and 3 tick-borne diseases including Lyme) from the Canadian Animal Blood Bank as part of their pre-donation screening.

We still have EIGHT donor spots to fill on Friday June 21st at our North London location, so please kindly review the eligibility requirements and reach out if you believe your dog would be a suitable donor.

For those whose pups are not eligible, sharing this post would be greatly appreciated to help us spread the word 🙏

Do you ever feel like you can't ask for help because it'd be perceived as a sign of weakness? 🙃 Well... Cats feel the same!

In the wild, showing signs of weakness can quickly get a cat killed by predators. Because of this, they're *very unlikely* to cry out in pain or limp when they're hurt.

Plus, symptoms of pain may just look like "regular" signs of aging... but when the cause is addressed, many cats act like their younger selves again!

After treatment, cat parents often notice that their kitty:
🪂 Jumps up on the counter again
🚪 Greets them at the door every day
🛏️ Runs upstairs instead of walking
🚽 No longer has "accidents"
🥣 Has a better appetite.. and more!

Think back to your cat one month ago, or one year ago 🤔💭 How has their behaviour changed since then? Could it be because of hidden pain? If so, it's time to make an appointment with your vet.

Is your pet’s microchip information up to date?

Yesterday, a very kind neighbour found an older Golden Retriever wandering around her street without a collar or leash.

She brought the good boy into our Westmount location to be scanned for a microchip.

A microchip was detected and our Veterinary Assistant contacted the microchip company. Unfortunately, the microchip had been implanted with the breeder over ten years prior. There was a name on file for the family the the breeder had sold the dog to, but no contact information. The profile was incomplete and therefore, there was no way to contact the family to tell them their beloved dog had been found.

On a long shot, we searched for the family’s name in our computer system and… No luck.

But our dedicated medical team did not give up! They thought this handsome boy looked familiar and kept searching. They found a family with a very similar last name in our system who had a Golden Retriever with a matching description and gave them a call.

It was them! The breeder had misspelled their last name when registering the microchip, but by chance, they brought their dog to Neighbourhood Pet Clinic for care!

It turns out, the lovely boy had escaped the backyard when the wind blew their gate open. His family had been out looking for him when we called.

It was a very happy reunion at our Westmount location, but this story almost had a very different ending!

Microchips are so important for reuniting lost pets with their families, but they only work if you keep your profile up to date.

Let this be your reminder to update your information with your microchip company. No one ever wants to think about their furry family member becoming lost, but if they do, an up-to-date microchip can help get them back home where they belong 💚 🐾

Did you know our RVT Ally (right) is a Ridgetown grad? She came to us through her externship and has been an amazing addition to our team ever since.

She returned to her alma mater with us today to share her industry knowledge with Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant students at the Ridgetown Career Fair!

We hope to see some of our visitors follow in her footsteps as externship students with NPC in the future 💚 🐾 🩺
