🇨🇦 PLEASE KEEP YOUR PUPS SAFE🇨🇦

We are already seeing the effects of fireworks in our community and dogs going missing.

Over the next couple of nights, there will be firework displays in several areas.

Please keep these tips handy:

🐶Walk your dog before dusk

🐶If your dog needs to go out after dusk, please ensure dog is on a leash and with you as dogs will find any escape route they can when scared. Double leaah those rescues and fosters (martingales with a leash and a properly fitted harness with leash as added protection.

🐶Make sure they have a tag with your contact information as well as ensuring their microchip information is up to date in case an accident does happen that way they can be reunited with you as soon as possible

🐶Keep pups safe inside with a tv, music and busy activities like puzzles.

🐶Just because you think your dog is ok with fireworks, please don’t bring them to events. You may think it won’t happen to you but we have seen it too many times. Crowds and fireworks, scare dogs.

Let’s all do our part and enjoy our holiday with our loved ones.

Stay safe.

Love your K9 Ground Search Team

If your vet is closed and your fur baby is unwell - check out one of London's 3 Urgent Care/Emergency Vet Clinics.

Parvo can progress quickly - signs like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or loss of appetite should never wait.
If your dog is showing symptoms, knowing where to go could save their life.

Plus, we’ve added a new blog on our website about telemedicine options in case in-person care isn’t available or you just need some advice.

On hot days like today, it’s important to know when it’s too hot for your pet to be outside.☀️🐾

Here are a few tips to keep your furry friends safe:

🌡️ Limit outdoor time, especially during peak heat hours when the sun is blazing.

💧 Bring plenty of water and take breaks in shady spots if you're out for a walk.

👣 Check the ground temperature before walking your dog. Place your hand on the pavement - if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

❌ NEVER leave a pet alone in a vehicle, even in the shade. Pets left in cars, or other unventilated areas, or tied up in the sun, are susceptible to heat stroke. Since dogs have only a limited ability to sweat, even a short time in a hot environment can be life-threatening. Temperatures inside a parked car can rapidly reach dangerous levels even on relatively mild days, and even if the windows are slightly open. A dog's normal body temperature is 39°C and a temperature of 41°C can be withstood only for a very short time before irreparable brain damage or death can occur.

Let’s keep our pets cool, comfortable, and safe this summer!

06/23/2025

Is it just us, or has it felt like a long time coming for warmer weather? We’re so happy to finally welcome summer, BUT it’s also a good time to remind everyone about how your fur babies feel the heat - especially beneath their feet!

On a warm day, pavement temperatures can be MUCH hotter than the air temps. Even a beautiful 25°C day can cause asphalt to hit temperatures over 50°C.

Be sure to protect your pup, they rely on you!
✅ Walk during cooler times (early morning or evening)
✅ Stick to grass or shaded paths
✅ Test the pavement with your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them!
✅ Consider dog booties for extra protection

Help us keep more dogs safe in the summer heat by sharing this post as a friendly reminder!
