As the temperatures drop and the snow is falling, it's important to remember that our furry friends need extra care in the colder months! 🐶🐱 Here are some tips to keep them warm, safe, and happy:

Limit Time Outdoors – Cold weather can be harsh on your pet’s paws, ears, and nose. Limit outdoor time to short walks, and make sure they stay dry and warm. 🐾

Paw Care – Snow, ice, and salt can irritate your pet’s paws. After walks, wipe their paws clean, and consider using pet-safe booties for added protection! 🐾

Provide a Warm Space – Make sure your pet has a cozy, draft-free spot indoors to rest. Cold floors and chilly air can cause discomfort and health issues. 🛏️

Hydration & Nutrition – Cold weather can make pets less thirsty, but they still need plenty of water. Keep their bowls filled and continue feeding nutritious meals. 💧

Avoid Toxic Chemicals – Be cautious of antifreeze, salt, and other toxic chemicals that can harm your pet. Keep them out of reach! ☠️

We have had several clients concerned about this most recent canine parvovirus outbreak in London.

If vaccinations for parvovirus are up to date, no further vaccinations or boosters are needed at this point in time.

You can access your pet's vaccine history by downloading the PetDesk app, or emailing the clinic.

Puppies are at highest risk for transmission of parvovirus, especially if they have not yet received all of their core puppy vaccinations, and much more precaution should be taken in the areas they travel and visit. Vaccinated adult dogs have an extremely low risk of contracting this disease.

As a precaution, we recommend avoiding the parks where outbreaks have been noted: Chelsea Green Park and Watson Street Park in London.
