KJ needs our help again!

Our sweet KJ has had to go back to the Atlantic Veterinary College for some follow up care which included another surgery. As you can imagine, this has been quite expensive. Otherwise, she is thriving in her new home and loving being spoiled 💕
For those who don't know who KJ is, she is a puppy who was surrendered to us because she has atresia ani. This is a congenital defect that caused her colon to not form properly. She needed a specialized surgery at AVC.

We are fundraising to help cover some of the costs of her continued care.
We are having a 50/50 raffle. Each ticket is $10.
If you would like to buy a ticket, you can pay with cash at the clinic or by emt to [email protected]
with your contact name and email address.

Severus is available for adoption.

This big boy has a bit of a complicated history.
He came to us almost a year ago because of behavioral issues.
After consulting with a veterinary behavourist, we have established that he has PTSD.
Through no fault of his previous owners, he has developed a strong reaction to loud noises.
When startled, he can become aggressive due to fear. He has been with his current foster family for almost 10 months and hasn't had an episode in this time. He is currently on medication to help promote a calm mental state.
Sevvy will need a special home with certain criteria. He will need a home with no other animals or children and will need a person who is very familiar with cat behavior and positive reinforcement.

5 month old Scallop got into some trouble last week.
He had been chewing on his mom's (our pharmacy assistant, Shanda's) boots and a shoelace came up missing.
He hacked a couple times as if he had a hairball so off to the hospital he went.
After being given an injectable medication that induces vomiting, he threw up the shoelace (and an added bonus boot lining😂)
Although we see dogs more often for foreign bodies, cats also like to get into things they shouldn't. Hair elastics, toys, string (and shoelaces) are commonly ingested by cats and can cause major gastrointestinal problems.
If Scallop hadn't thrown up, this likely would have meant surgery to remove the material.
Luckily, Scallop is back to his mischievous self, but let's hope he's learned that shoelaces aren't for eating.

Adoptable cat

Meet Fiona. Fiona began her life as a barn cat in a large cat colony.
Now, at a year and a half, she's adjusted to life in a home quite well. She doesn't love dogs but would do well in a home with cats.
She takes a little bit of time and patience to warm up, but when she does, you'll get lots of sweet purrs and rubs from her.
Fiona is spayed and up to date on vaccines.
Her adoption fee is $200.
If you'd like to welcome this beautiful girl into your home, please contact us at [email protected] and we can send you an application.

Reminder that this Saturday, we'll be having a nail trim event from 12-3pm to help raise money for KJ.
Nail trims will be $20 and we accept cash, credit or debit.

We will be having a nail trim event for KJ on Saturday January 20th from 12pm until 3pm.
Nail trims will be $20 per pet and all pets are welcome 🙂
All money raised will go directly to KJ's medical bills.

Who is KJ?

KJ is a French bulldog puppy who was surrendered to us at 3 months old. She has a congenital defect where her large intestine didn't join up with her re**um. This required specialized surgery at the Atlantic Veterinary Hospital. KJ is doing better but has a long way to go she'll be ready for adoption.
