Bringing your dog in for a grooming appointment!
So you booked a grooming appointment for your dog- what should you expect?
If you’re bringing your dog in for a grooming appointment, make sure not to feed them right before. This could cause them to have an upset stomach, be more anxious and end up going the washroom on the table (and we don’t want that to get all over your clean dog)! Don’t forget to bring your collar and leash! Sometimes they aren’t the only dogs in the Groom Room but if you do forget, we can lend you a leash. Also make sure you take them for a bathroom break. It’s always a good habit to offer them to go the washroom after your car ride before the grooming appointment. Make sure to tell your groomer the dogs history (any allergies, injuries, dogs typical behaviour as well as past behaviour while being groomed). If there is a certain look you are going for- bring a picture! For haircut dogs, think about what length you would like them and if you like the face to be the same length as the body or a bit fluffier. If you have a double coated dog, we can do a Deshed Package on him/her to help with all their shedding. This includes a bath, blowdry, brush, nail trim, ear cleaning and any other trimming you would like. At drop off, we can let you know how much your dog will be and when to come back. We unfortunately don’t have debit, but can do etransfer or cash for payment. Typically it takes 2hrs for a dog to go through the grooming process (unless your a lab or a smaller dog with not a lot of hair- may take less time than this). We appreciate prompt drop off and pick up times but we also can put them in a crate if you will be a few minutes late to pick up.

Labs shed too! We do our Deshed Package on Labs to help with all their shedding! And you should see how much hair we get out even after we blow dry them!🤯 Lots of hair comes out around the tail and pants!🤭

Allow us to re-introduce ourselves!!
We are Laura & Catrina! The very proud owners of Scott’s Groom Room.
Two small-town girls that both grew up just outside the heart of Lucan on our families farms. We have both always had a strong love for dogs, horses and caring for animals.
We are two bestfriends that had been brought together through these exact doors you see behind us 12 years ago. We were privileged to work together through our high school years at a feed store/ dog grooming and training company. Which led us to opening up our own shop almost 3.5 years ago.
We are so honoured to do what we do everyday and love every minute of it. We have honestly the best clients and we are so grateful to work with every single one of them.
When we are not working late nights and weekends you can find us with our horses, dogs, and families.
We love to travel together!!

Hope all your dogs are staying cool this week!

Reminder to keep your dogs cool this week! It’s supposed to be a really hot week!☀️
🐾Make sure they have lots of clean water 24/7
🐾Don’t let them drink pool water💦
🐾Freezing treats (you can even add some kibble or fruits) in a dish or giving them frozen treats (like chicken feet) will also keep them cool and entertained!🍦
🐾Get them a little kitty pool to cool off in or take them swimming at the beach or in a pond (make sure the water doesn’t have any algae blooms)! 🏖️
🐾Drying them off the best you can after swimming will help avoid getting hot spots!
🐾Walk them when it’s cooler outside (early in the morning or late in the evening) and give them lots of breaks🦮
🐾Watch that their paws aren’t on hot pavement for too long (keep this in mind during walks too). You don’t want them to get burned and cause painful blisters to walk on!
🐾Provide lots of shade for them when outside🌳
🐾Keep up with your dog’s grooming schedule and keep brushing them to get rid of excess hair and keep the matt’s away!
🐾Remember panting is how they keep cool!👅
