Sea Horse Farm

Sea Horse Farm Sea Horse Farm is located in the coastal community of Upper Kingsburg. An outdoor sand riding ring is used for exercising the horses.

It is home to three beloved horses, cared for by local veterinarian - Alison MacKay-Lyons. Green pastures extend from the old barnyard (where animals have been housed since the 1750’s) to Hirtle’s Beach. The horses stay close to home during winter months and enjoy grass for as much of the year as possible through rotational grazing. In the past Alison has offered private riding lessons, but is currently focused on individualized equine care, dressage training and Veterinary Medicine.

After many years of longing, we finally built the horses a new space. The silver building (yet to be named) sits somewhere between a barn and a run-in shelter. Designed by my Dad, the intent is to protect the herd from cold northerly winds and rain. Provide shade in the warmer months. Despite its simplicity, this building will “pack a big punch” and transform our daily routine.

Sunny news on this rainy day: Jahina NSN is in foal to Tolegro!

Tolegro is the first licensed son of the legendary stallion Totilas. Totilas, is considered by many to be the greatest dressage horse of all time.
Tolegro was bred in Holland, competed in Germany and imported to Canada by Canadream Farm. We cannot wait to meet the offspring of this powerhouse duo.

As a special aside, Tolegro is ‘homozygous black’ therefore he cannot produce a chestnut foal.

As Ernesto churns up the Atlantic, I had the pleasure of watching August & Viper mutual grooming with the sound of the waves crashing in the background.

For your consideration:

‘August’ 12 year old, liver chestnut, Warmblood (sire Everest) x TB, maiden mare, 16.1 hh.

Powerful mare with feminine features. Veterinarian owned. Sure-footed; raised on drumlin hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Basic dressage training but has shown interest in jumping. Beautiful mount for a confident rider with soft hands and seat.

Physically August has thrived from routine veterinary care, schooling, gentle handling and extensive turnout. Advertising for sale due to time restrictions. Suitable for a young rider with a coach, or seasoned veteran looking for the stamina of a Thoroughbred and flash of a Warmblood.

Low five figures. Serious inquiries only.
