Karen's Koop, also known as Ruskin Nurseries, has been operating since 1987. We are a family owned and operated business. We grow 95% of our own plants.

My husband has been raising chicken for over 40 years. Our meat is raised on our farm, FRASERVIEW POULTRY, here in Maple ridge. The beef is strictly grass fed, no hormones or antibiotics are used. The chickens are raised in a barn until 5 1/2 weeks old and then they are let out to run. The chicken are supplemented with a grain/veggie commercial feed (To make sure they are getting enough food.) The

Muscovy ducks are hatched and raised outside year round. They are able to swim on a huge pond and eat out in our grass fields. Our lambs are Dorper and St.Croix hairsheep, they are raised on our farm. They eat mainly grass and are also supplemented with an cup of grain each night. Every Spring I seed and transplant the following items in our greenhouses; Various bedding plants, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, tubs, and perennials. We bring in all our trees and shrubs from various B.C. wholesale suppliers. We also sell potting soil , fertilizers, and garden decorations.

I have really enjoyed meeting and serving all of you throughout the years.
I’ll miss seeing you and our chats, whether a long time or a new customer.

Hello,
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow February 18th is our final day that we will be open. We will be closing at 4:00 pm for good.
We are all sold out of all our meats.
We still have 1gallon perennials to choose from, they’re now $4.00 each. Trees and shrubs are still available, but are going fast.
We still have pots , trays and seedling trays available for free.
We now have all our store equipment available for purchase,ie freezers ,scale ,
And storage racks etc.
Our final hours are from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

Hello,
Just a quick reminder:
We’ll have Fresh Whole Chickens available February 01 - 05 or while quantities last. These are my last batch of chicken. They are my small sized birds .

We still have quite a bit of lamb yet for purchase…

Our perennials , trees and shrubs are on for wholesale prices and lower.

Fertilizers are me on for half price, ranging from $2.00 - $12.00 each .

I’m giving all used pots away. Sizes range from 2 1/2” pots to 5 gallon.

Hello,
Well the past year has gone by so fast, and January seems to be going by even faster.
So I hope you had a good 2023 , and a good new year so far.

So here’s what’s happening here at the store.
We have come to an agreement with the highways, as they need our property to widen it .They are buying us out and we will be closing for good.
We do have time yet to sell our lamb , chicken and plants, etc.
We have decided that February 18th will be our last day we’ll be open.

That being said, here’s what’s available for purchase:
We have lamb, all cuts are available .
Frozen chicken for now, and we’ll be getting a fresh batch in on February 1st , these will be my small sized ones. Once again they’ll be in the cooler until the 6th closing time then frozen.

All trees, shrubs and perennials will be sold at wholesale prices.

Two announcements to pass onto you:

1) We have LAMB in stock once again.

All cuts are available.

2) We still have frozen small sized chicken available for purchase. We won’t have any fresh available until late February of 2024.

Just reminding you that we will be closed from December 23rd, 2023 to January 4th, 2024. ( last day open will be the 22nd. )

Hello,
Just a few announcements to pass onto you.

We have FRESH WHOLE CHICKEN available today. They’ll be in the store until Monday December 11th closing time 5:00 pm.
These are my small sized chickens, and my last fresh batch until spring of 2024.

I have a few large frozen chickens yet, for purchase. Unfortunately due to the avian influenza outbreak, the processors don’t want to take the chance of contracting it from free run farms.

Lamb should be available once again, possibly on the14th of December. I’ll keep you posted as soon as it’s in the store.

This year I’ll be closing the store on December 22nd. I’ll be reopening on January 4th. 2024. For the holidays.

Good morning,
Just a quick update on what’s happening at Karen’s Koop.
Unfortunately this year we will not have Fresh Whole Chickens available for thanksgiving, but I do have some nice large frozen ones available. That were processed in September. They run between ten to fourteen pounds each.
We have our one gallon perennials on sale for the month of October, they’re $ 6.99 - $ 7.59 each depending on the variety.
We also have our 2 gallon butterfly bushes and Wegelia bushes on for $ 14.99 each.

Just reminding you that we will be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.
We’ll be open on Sunday for our usual hours, 12:00 pm. - 4:00 pm.

Hello,
Here’s what’s happening at Karen’s Koop :

This Thursday April 6th we will have our first FRESH batch of WHOLE large sized CHICKENS available after 2:30 pm. for 2023 and everyone’s Easter dinners.

Our Easter hours for Easter Sunday will be from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
We will be closed on Easter Monday.
Thursday to Saturday we are open from 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

We are getting ready to open the nursery part next Thursday. We do have some fruit trees, rhubarb, forsythia and a few perennials available for purchase now. ( it’s a good time to get the fruit trees planted now, as they are budding , and it won’t harm them when transporting them ). We’re hoping the weather will be warm enough during the night, so we can have annuals and basket stuffers available for purchase by then. If not, trees, shrubs and perennials will be available.

Our spring hours will begin April 13th.

Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday we’ll be open from 9:00 am. to 6:00 pm.

Sunday from 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm.
Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

We have booked our lambs in for the end of April. Lamb will be available the last week of April or first week of May. I’ll be posting the exact date once we know the date it’ll be available for purchase.

Hello,
Just a couple of announcements to pass onto you and a favour.
First the announcements:
1) We will be open this week at regular hours except for Saturday, December 24. On that day we will be open from 10:00 am. - 4:00 pm.

2) We will be closed from Saturday December 24 at 4:00 pm. until January 5, 2023. Reopening at 10:00 am. and back to our regular business hours .

Now for the favour:
Unfortunately I am having trouble getting emails sent out to my customers. I’m asking if you know anyone that usually get emails from me, if you could please pass the previous announcements to them. I’d appreciate it very much.

Just a couple of updates from the Karen's Koop.

1) We will have FRESH WHOLE CHICKENS available tomorrow morning October 28th. These are my large size chickens , and they will be available until Monday October 31st until closing time at 5:00 pm.

2) This is the last weekend that we’ll have plants for sale. We are putting them away for the winter. They’ll be returning in April 2023.
