We've been having a blast dog sitting while Beretta and Yeti's humans went on vacation to tie the knot!
Beretta is out of our Remi x Talon 2021 litter and Yeti is from Zoli's litter this past summer!

Probably my favorite place to walk the dogs is our frozen lake! There are so many places for them to explore!
Conditions are great: 2 feet of ice and 6 inches of snow ❄️ 😀

So proud of little Remi!

Gerry took her to work for her 1st real-life bed bug job and she NAILED IT! Marking 1 live bug on a mattress cover, knowing they were in a floor safe, taking yarn balls out of a bag because bugs were in there, ignoring dead bugs (cause those don't count) and pulling Gerry down the hall and showing him the next unit she should search!

Did you know that sniffing actually FEELS GOOD to the dog? Get in on one of the best activities to burn excess energy and to build confidence by teaching your dog to search their environment! You can tire your energetic dog out in just a few minutes a day by just letting them search (for treats or their favorite toy)

Nosework activities also build confidence. Why? Because it encourages our dog to explore and work their environment; the dog develops positive feelings that translate into lower anxiety and overall mastery of their surroundings. When the dog is challenged with problem-solving searches, you give your dog the tools to feel good about their environment. This approach to teaching the dog to search taps into all the feel good parts of the brain.

So happy with how their bed bug detection training is coming along 🙌

2 sets of hides in the cabin today meant the girls were learning about residual odour! Add that to the 'dummy vials' we put out yesterday and it's obvious that nothing is distracting them from finding the odour origin.

The girls are doing amazing in their training! They can consistently target the bed bug scent in our training games. We've moved on to hides in rooms/furniture.

You can see when Remi has detected bed bug scent in these videos....now it's practice practice practice to locate the odour origin!

Look what came in the mail... live bed bugs!

Gerry's company, Erie Pest Control, has been dealing with lots of bed bugs in Sudbury (it is the #1 city in Canada, per capita, for bed bugs after all) so we've decided to add bed bug detection to our training!

Raven, Zoli, Remi & Paige are all being put through the paces to learn how to search for bed bugs so they can make finding them more accurate and efficient! Here they are learning the bed bug scent!

We've got our fingers crossed that we don't break one of the vials that these guys are living in ... 😉

This is the 1st time that we've felt the need to hold on to a puppy due to not finding the right home for them. Red and Gus are from our Zoli x Talon litter, whelped July 28th.

They are both looking for active homes where they will have a job or competitive hobby to keep their active minds out of trouble! Unfortunately, the average pet home is not what we are looking for.

A little about these 2:
GUS
- sassy and outgoing like his mama!
- brave and curious
- loves to play with the big dogs!

RED
- more reserved, like his dad
- is a people pleaser
- show him once and he won't forget!

Both boys are house trained, crate trained, sit, walk well on and off leash, and have a good recall! Up to date on vaccinations and deworming.

If you think you might have the perfect home for them, please send us a message with your plans for them.

If they stay with us, they will be trained for bird hunting and/or bed bug detection. Their price will increase accordingly.

Zoli is full of energy and loves this game! She thoroughly searches every area and comes up successful 👏

Paige. She has a slower, more methodical pace to her searches, but don't let that fool you; her accuracy is 95%!

These boys don't care that it's a wet and rainy start to this holiday weekend. They are ready to play; rain 🌧 or shine ☀️.

Teddy, Red and Gus had a great time exploring the beach for the first time with the help of Zoli, Remi and Paige 🌊⛱️

It's so much fun playing with Paige! With 4 puppies joining their new families last weekend, 5 is an easier number to keep track of 😉🤭. 2 leave this weekend, and the others are here for puppy boot camp!

It was a beautiful day to play yesterday!

And then they were 7 weeks old ... 😍🤗🥹 They had a blast exploring the back yard now that the turkeys are gone (minus Gerry's pets)

Zoli's puppies are learning how to be good canines around the big dogs! Here is the brown collar male (affectionately known as GusGus in our house 🥰) sharing a snack with Talon, Zoli, Paige and Raven. P.S. this little guy is available (Gerry is hoping that i don't decide to keep him 😉) and is looking for an active hunting/sport/competitive home.

We would like to thank the turkeys for their excellent dog training on their last day here. While it's important to have bird drive, it's equally important to ignore distractions when it isn't time to hunt.
