Good morning,

We have encountered an issue where Facebook is giving clients the option to book appointments. We currently don't use any booking software, kellie books all of her appointments herself. We apologize for the confusion. That being said kellie is off this week for a well deserved vacation and will get back to messages when she can.

Biscuit had her first Puppy groom this morning and she did fantastic! Puppy’s first groom is the determining factor for how the rest of their grooming experiences will go. With all of the brand new sounds and sensations the puppy will experience, we like to take it slow the first time. What does a first groom entail? A bath, blow dry, a paw pad shave and sanitary trim to introduce them to the sound and feel of the clippers, a nail trim, an ear cleaning, and light trimming around the eyes and paws to introduce them to the sensation of scissors. They get a full haircut on the second grooming session, this way of doing things ensures success for all the future groomings. 🥰

Good afternoon,

If we have not contacted you to add you to kellies schedule, don't panic! She arrived to alberta last night and will be in the hat for Saturday. Once she's in medicine hat we will be sitting down and focusing on getting everyone booked. Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday we should have everyone who was interested booked up!

As for waste pick-up, I apologize for not getting those totals to you, I've been on autopilot these past few month's and focused on getting the grooming side of things up and running. I'll send a payment reminder with totals on Saturday to those owing.

A big thank you to all our clients who have been patient while we get everything sorted out! And a big thank you to kellie who's going to be jumping in with both feet starting Monday!

Good afternoon,

Onebarkaway is pleased to announce the hiring of a certified professional groomer! Kellie will be flying to Alberta in May and once settled in she plans on taking over the mobile grooming side of the company starting on the 6th.

We have been working hard to get everything in order these past weeks and going forward until she arrives. We have taken into consideration all the feedback we have received over the years. The good and the bad. Our focus will be communication. Messages will be replied to at the start or end of each shift Monday-Friday.

In addition, we understand we have many nail clients. Fitting nails in between grooms proved to be difficult, with driving times and grooming times, it was not productive. We will be implementing nail ONLY days so we can focus on getting around to all our nail clients.

We will be accepting appointments starting next week to begin filling up Kellies schedule for the month of May.

Spring is right around the corner, and with all the snow melting you may have noticed the build-up of pet waste in your yard. Onebarkaways waste clean-up is busy starting on those sping cleans. We offer one time spring cleans or weekly and twice weekly cleans. Our weekly cleans are $35 a month and twice weekly cleans $50 a month. Good evening.

We regret to inform our mobile grooming clients that we have to shut our doors temporarily. Hannah has decided to focus on her health and will no longer be grooming. With our March/April schedule nearly full I understand the frustration and inconvenience this will cause and hope our clients understand. These were unforeseen circumstances and I understand how detrimental this is to the business. Hannah has been with us from the start and helped grow the business to where it is now and we wish her the best.

Michelle will continue to groom out of our shop evenings and weekends. If you'd like to book with her we can make that happen. (403-594-2056)

With a new grooming unit ready to be picked up in Edmonton I believe permanently shutting down our mobile grooming is not an option. So I will be looking to hire a groomer full time to take over the mobile grooming aspect of our company. I'm hoping to find a groomer ASAP to salvage what we can and grow the company further. I will be posting an ad on indeed as well as FB for those interested.

Again, I understand the frustration and inconvenience this will cause our clients and I apologize wholeheartedly. I myself have not fully comprehended this whole situation yet but I will do everything in my power to get us back on the road serving medicine hat and area.

Good evening everyone. For those that have been trying to contact Onebarkaway for grooming needs and have not received a call back or reply I apologize. Hannah underwent surgery and is currently recovering. The surgery went well and she's expected to be able to continue grooming early into march. For those who we have to re-schedule you'll be given a discount for the inconvenience and will take priority once she's back. Our shop groomer Michelle has been working hard taking on appointments in the evenings and weekends at the shop to help with Hannah's dogs. We wish Hannah a speedy recovery and apologize for the inconvenience.

We hope everyone had a merry Christmas and was able to celebrate with family and friends. As we wrap up the year, I just want to thank all of our clients for their support and business. This year has been difficult with more setbacks than accomplishments. Changes have to be made in order to make 2024 a successful year. We take feedback and criticism seriously and I will be working hard in the coming weeks to get Onebarkaway back on track.

#1 Messages/scheduling.
Our biggest complaint is not replying. Due to our scheduling, it makes it hard for anyone but Hannah to book dogs. I value a work/life balance for my employees and having Hannah answer all the messages after grooming all day is not working. So In order to help Hannah I will be changing our scheduling to “Time Slots”. With strict time slots, anyone on the team will be able to answer a message and find an empty slot for your dog/cat. This is a very tedious task as our January is almost booked up. However, this is a crucial change as we cannot have your messages go unanswered.

#2 Second Unit/groomer.
We currently have a professional grooming unit being built. We were hoping to have it ready months ago but they are currently 10 weeks behind. Once it arrives, we will be hiring another mobile groomer to our team. (Applications will be accepted once the unit arrives)

#3 Shop grooming.
We are known for mobile grooming, but we also have a shop. Michelle grooms out of our shop evenings/weekends, which is convenient for those who work during the day/week. Same concept as our mobile grooming, one-on-one treatment for your pup. If you need an evening/weekend, appointment please send a message to Michelle at (403-594-2056)

#4 waste-removal.
As our pet waste pick-up side of the business continues to grow, you may see me on different days as I work on mapping all my waste clients by areas of town. For the time being, I will be keeping the price at $35 a month for weekly pick-up and $50 a month for twice a week pick-up going into the new year. We still have dozens of un-answered messages that we will be going through and apologize in advance for letting it get this bad. We hope to prove to our old and new clients that we can be efficient going into the new year.

Our second unit is up and running and we're starting to fill the schedule! We're offering 10% off your groom for all new and returning clients. Our trailer unit can handle any sized dog as we utilize electric tables, and ramps inside the unit which is great for dogs with mobility issues or oversized breeds. Complete one-on-one service with no cage dryers. Our convenient service allows you to continue with your day knowing your dog is right outside your home getting pampered.

One of our most asked question regarding pet waste removal is whether we're able to pick up waste off of gravel or other type of rock. The answer is yes. All sized yards regardless of rock, grass, or dirt we can handle. Starting at $35 a month for weekly maintenance or $50 a month for twice weekly maintenance.

Just wanted to let everyone know as we have recieved a high message volume (hannah isn't ignoring you) she is currently on vacation as it's well deserved and will be returning to work on the 15th. I appreciate everyone's patience. Our in shop groomer Michelle has a few openings for evenings and weekends which I'll be posting tomorrow! Here's a shot of her latest groom.

Onebarkaway would like to welcome our newest member of the team Michelle. Michelle will be grooming out of our shop location evenings and weekends.

Michelle attended a government certified grooming school in Leduc called Alberta dog grooming school and finished top in her class. She has raised and shown German Shepherds and now focuses on her standard wirehaired dachshunds. Michelle works at the veterinary clinic where she specializes in nutrition. Her love for dogs has brought her back into grooming. Her favorite breeds to groom are schnauzers and Scotties. She will also groom cats but will only have them in the shop with no dogs present.

Due to working evenings and weekends, her schedule is limited. We will have an updated availability list shortly.
