Medicine Hat SPCA MH Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - we care for sick, injured & unwanted animals.

The mission of the Medicine Hat Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to provide protective care for sick, injured, homeless and unwanted animals and to promote humane attitudes and responsible pet ownership. To accomplish this, there must be acceptance that humans are responsible for the welfare of animals; and there must be an understanding of the physical and behavioral needs of a

nimals. We have many community programs including our Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Emergency boarding Services, Adoption services, Volunteer Program, Foster Program, Pet Safe Keeping and more. We also have a Pet Gear Store with many new and gently used pet items at discounted prices!!

Our friends over at Persian Dreams and Canine Themes Rescue Society have been working their butts off for TNR in MH.

If you are caring for community cats, and needing assistance with TNR, please read the below to get ahold of them ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ’ปEmail them at the Project Snip & Tip email address: [email protected] with the location area, approximate number of cats, your name, and a contact number for you.

Please note that the email isn't closely monitored as it is ran by volunteers, and they will only contact you if they are able to help in your area.

Project Snip & Tip is ONLY funded through donations. There is no city or government funding.
At this time, they do NOT have the funds to spay and neuter all the cats in Medicine Hat.
If there are no donations or the funds run out, unfortunately they are will not be able to carry out any TNR in the city.

Secondly, they are asking if you are willing and able to help by donating, please contact PDCT for information on how to donate.

Any help you are able to offer this project is greatly appreciated.
The community, PDCT and the MH SPCA has all fought hard for this project. It is time we rally together and continue to help the homeless animals in Medicine Hat.
TNR can not be done without YOU. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿพ A huge THANK YOU to Animal World for hosting an adoption event for some of our amazing shelter dogs! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’™

Gravy, Raisin, Mocha, and Josie had a blast meeting new people, getting lots of love, and showing off their wonderful personalities. Events like these help give our shelter animals a better chance at finding their forever homes, and we couldnโ€™t do it without the support of our community!

Thank you, Animal World, for being such a fantastic partner in animal welfare! ๐Ÿพโœจ

Shadow has been with us for a ridiculous amount of time... 507 days to be exact! ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ
Full of personality, Shadow would adjust to the company of another respectful feline.
Shadow does tend to pick her people, and once she does she is affectionate and enjoys her fair share of attention.
Previously she has lived with a small dog and would likely adjust to another one in the environment, given ample time and patience. ๐Ÿ˜‡
If you'd like to really steal Shadows heart, cat nip and laser pointers are sure to do the trick! ๐ŸŽฉ

This beauty is looking for someone to take a chance on her, as we all know she is a diamond in the rough who just needs that special someone to come and scoop her up!
Could that be you? ๐Ÿง

2 Year Old Female
Retriever x Lab
Roughly 50lbs
Medium Energy

Apple can be shy and timid when meeting new people, but give that girl a tug toy and she shines bright! Play is life. Life is play.
This sweet girl would enjoy a home where she is pampered and shown all the love that she has previously missed out on.
She has previously lived with kids, and would enjoy a home with older kids to play with. Has shown lots of interest in other dogs who have the same zest for play as she does.
Her behavior around cats is unknown.

How amazing is Cypress View Veterinary Clinic??
Is your pet much over due for an exam? Do you need a little help financially with one? Give them a call today!

Community Day is back again! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

What is Community Day? Cypress View Veterinary Clinic pays for a patient to get a Physical Exam done by Dr Rad. These appointments are for the under-examined pets and those who may have not had the means to get their pets looked at for a while. This is open to current, new, and returning clients of Medicine Hat and surrounding areas.

Monday, April 7th from 8 am- 12pm there will be 24 10-minute slots available!

These appointments are physical exams ONLY and for any follow-up care recommendations (ie: Bloodwork, vaccines, ear infections) Dr Rad will send home an established treatment plan that can be implemented at a later date. Nail trims/anal glands can be done that day with a technician for regular prices.
These appointments must be pre-booked. There will be no walk-ins accepted.

If you would like to book an appointment, please give us a call. If you are a new client of ours, we will require an email address at that time. We will then send you a form that you must fill out before your appointment.

If there are any questions about these appointments or would like to book your appointment, please contact us! ๐Ÿ“ž

Oreo. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค
The best doggo. Those soulful eyes. That boopable snoop. Those tiny ears.
Oreo is a friendly giant who just wants you play tug and for you to know that he is a true lap dog.
He has won the hearts of us here at the shelter, but still he gets past by. Why? What do the other dogs have that Oreo doesn't?

He is a rambunctious player - go hard or go home!
He will teach you patience.
He will teach you how to get the most out of life.
He will teach you to take time and enjoy the little things.
He will teach you to let that stuff go.
He will teach you to eat that snack.
He will teach you that a dog that gets passed by is often the best kept secret.
He will teach you love. And love him, you will.

So, come meet your new favorite teacher. He's soft and squishy with a heart made of gold. ๐Ÿ’›

Our Story

The mission of the Medicine Hat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to provide protective care for sick, injured and unwanted animals. Through our community programs we strive to promote humane attitudes and responsible pet ownership.

We strive to create a world in which all animals, and in particular those animals whose lives we can influence, enjoy as a minimum five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst;

2. Freedom from pain, injury and disease;
