Seeking foster care for Rockford!
Rockford has a personality that many farm animal raising folks would recognize!
He has a keen work ethic, a love of watching fast moving things, particularly his favorite ball, with a sweet silly puppy like personality. 🐶
Unfortunately Rockford is showing signs of shelter decline, and is hoping that someone can open their home to foster him while he waits for his forever family to find him.
He doesn’t need much out of a foster home- just an understanding of who he is.
Rockford seeks human compassion, companionship and someone who understands a herding breed needs.
He loves being outside, playing ball, and getting in those steps.
An active home where he can be involved in chores and play would be his dream come true.
Due to his herding breed mix, he needs a home without small animals.
A home all to himself without other dogs or young kids would be ideal due to a genetic tendency to guard resources from other dogs.
He does though enjoy supervised playtime with dog friends, and has made plenty of friends here at the shelter!
He loves to be social. 🐾🐾
Rockford is just a sweet and sensitive soul who thrives with people who understand him.
He’s waiting for someone who can show him the ropes, and have his back.
Please reach out to learn more about fostering Rockford, he truly is a border collie enthusiasts dream dog. 🙌

The mission of the Medicine Hat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to provide protective care for sick, injured and unwanted animals. Through our community programs we strive to promote humane attitudes and responsible pet ownership.
We strive to create a world in which all animals, and in particular those animals whose lives we can influence, enjoy as a minimum five essential freedoms:
1. Freedom from hunger and thirst;
2. Freedom from pain, injury and disease;
3. Freedom from distress;
4. Freedom from discomfort; and
5. Freedom to express behaviors that promote well-being.
The Medicine Hat SPCA does not euthanize healthy or treatable animals even when the shelter is full, reserving humane euthanasia for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous to public safety.
