Spin-Go is in full swing at Kollektiv and I’m sure you’ve noticed that it’s been extremely BUSY!🚲🖤 With most time slots waitlisting, we can appreciate that it can be frustrating trying to get into those classes 😕 We are doing our best to fit everyone in and ensure that you all have equal opportunity to ride! Our schedule remains constant from week to week, however we are working on adding in pop up time slots where possible to offset some of the waitlists. 🤩 Remember that classes can be booked up to one week in advance, so if you know your availability, be sure to secure that spot ASAP! But please book with the intention of riding that day 🙏🏻 The waitlist DOES work, so in order to cycle through it (pun intended 😉) please take yourself out of a class that you can no longer attend at the earliest opportunity! Have you ever wondered why we have you clip in at Kollektiv as opposed to using your own runners with cages? 🤔 No, it’s not to trap you in place and prevent you from pulling off a great escape during class 😉 We acknowledge that clipping in can be intimidating, especially for new riders. But there’s a method to our madness. So let’s have a look 👀👇🏻 Clipping into the pedals with cycling shoes will give you a more efficient, more powerful and safer ride overall. Period. 🚲 The biggest benefit of clipping in is the ability to push and pull your pedal strokes, allowing you to use different muscles. There is greater efficiency in the transfer of power and a more balanced use between your quads and your hamstrings, which gives more stability for your knees. 😌 When pushing down in your pedal stroke, you are using more of your quadricep muscle, and when pulling back up, your hamstrings and gluteus maximus are more engaged. Without clip-in shoes, it is a lot more difficult to pull your pedal up with the activation of your hamstrings and glutes, so you end up only using your quadricep muscles. Wearing spin shoes creates a more balanced ride for your various muscle groups and ensures that you aren’t “quad dominant” throughout your ride. 🤓 Cycling shoes have stiffer soles then runners, so this will also lead to a better transfer of power and ensures that your feet will stay in position on the pedal. You will be more stable and balanced out of the saddle which leads to a safer, more comfortable ride. 🚲 Wearing soft athletic shoes will sometimes create “hot spots”. 🥵 This refers to a particular area of your foot that aches after riding for a while. The stiff soles of your cycling shoes disperse the pressure of the pedal over a larger area thereby avoiding these “hot spots”. So…. no more losing sleep over coming to your first few rides and getting trapped in the bike. We will either: A) ensure that you know how to unclip
