We are still gathering information on numbers of feral cats and which areas of the city they are in. Please send us an email at [email protected]

Now’s the time to make a difference, the weathers changing and soon it will be kitten season. Let’s get some spays and neuters done before then!

As you all know, PDCT has been advocating for TNR (Trap Neuter Return) in the city of Medicine Hat for quite a while now.

We ran a ‘pilot’ project with the MHSPCA in July/Sep 2024. This pilot project was named "Project Snip & Tip" and saw 34 feral cats spayed or neutered and then released back to where they were trapped. 35 kittens were also trapped and transferred to other rescue organizations to be vetted and put up for adoption. Project Snip & Tip was solely funded by a very generous donor who made this all possible.

Since that time, we have been trying to secure a spot to have an organization come to town that can spay and neuter hundreds of cats in a single weekend.
Unfortunately, we were informed last week that this won’t be possible for 2025, so we need to come up with a 'Plan B.'

PDCT will continue to do whatever we can to keep the project going, but this will be a huge undertaking.

Firstly, we are going to need a rough idea of which areas of the city have feral cats and a rough idea of how many. We are asking the citizens of Medicine Hat to help provide us with some of that information.

We are asking for you to email us at the Project Snip & Tip email address: [email protected] with the location area, approximate number of cats, your name, and a contact number for you. Please note that the email isn't closely monitored, and we will only contact you if we are able to help in your area.

Project Snip & Tip is ONLY funded through donations. We do not have any city or government funding. At this time, we do NOT have the funds to spay and neuter all the cats in Medicine Hat. If there are no donations or the funds run out, we unfortunately will not be able to carry out any TNR in the city.

Secondly, we are asking if you are willing and able to help by donating, please contact us at PDCT for information on how to donate. We can't do this without YOU, Medicine Hat, so we are asking for any help you can give to this project we have all fought hard for.

Let’s play a fun game!! And don’t forget our AGM March 26 7pm at the United Way Office.

Happy Birthday to our amazing President! Her devotion to our organization goes unnoticed many times. So today, let’s give her a big thank you and happy birthday for all she does!!! ❤️🎂🤩

Happy Birthday Sam!!!!

The sweet girl in her arms is Miss Narnia!

If you've been following our page, you may have read about her.

Narnia was found frozen to the ground, emaciated, dehydrated, and shivering. She was rushed to the vet clinic, where they gave her IV fluids and tried to warm her up.

At first, she refused to eat, but after a few days of intensive care, she started to perk up. We’re still not sure what happened to her to get in such a bad state, but she had an incredible will to live, and we were determined to help her.

She stayed at the vet clinic for about two weeks, and then we found her a medical foster just before Christmas. She’s doing amazingly and gaining weight every week. She needs biweekly bloodwork to check her electrolyte levels since her body was starving and having trouble regulating them.

Her foster mentioned that she was losing some hair on her tail, so we took her to the vet for a check-up. Unfortunately, she had frostbite damage, and part of her tail needed to be amputated.

Her surgery was last week, and she was such a trooper. She handled the surgery like a pro. The good news is that she didn’t lose much of her tail, maybe just a couple of inches. She gets her check-up next week, and then we can see where things are at for her 😻

Despite everything this little sweetheart has been through, she’s still so loving and trusting.

If you’d like to help donate towards Narnia’s care, here are a couple of options:

eTransfer: [email protected]
Please include your name and address for tax receipts over $10

Narnia Update!

She is such a trooper and handled the surgery like a pro. Good news is she didn’t loose much of her tail, maybe just a couple of inches.
The first pic you can see the ring where the tail has died due to frost bite. Her tail currently resembles that of a rat 🤣 but the hair will grow back in no time at all.

Thank you to everyone that pitched in for her surgery. You guys are amazing and we appreciate your help. Narnia gets her check up in 2 weeks and then we can see where things are at for her 😻
