Cytology Saturday!
Cytology is the study of cells - in vet med, we use cytology multiple times every day to help us diagnose lumps and bumps, fluids, and so many other samples!
Today, we will see an example of how cytology helped with the diagnosis and treatment in a real case from our clinic.

The SVMA has put forth an extensive survey with financial assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Advanced Education to try and gain insight into what can be done to help solve the workforce shortage our profession faces. This not only impacts us as a profession but our clients as well.
The survey is open to vets, vet techs, as well as vet and vet tech students in the province of Saskatchewan. Each member of the SVMA (Vets and Techs) have been sent emails in the E-News from the SVMA with the link to the survey or have been mailed a hard copy book mark with QR codes that link to the survey.
Please take the 15 minutes to complete the survey and be a part of the solution to deal with the workforce shortage! Even if you're not a vet, vet tech, or vet/vet tech student in the province but know someone who is, make sure they know about the survey and complete it before October 1!
When your vet recommends brushing your pet’s teeth, does that sound like an impossible idea?
Have no fear, many dogs and cats tolerate it very well!
When first starting out, we recommend using a soft brush and a tasty toothpaste to make the experience more enjoyable!
For pets, the toothpaste doesn’t have true cleaning properties, it just helps them enjoy the brushing action which removes plaque before it can harden into tartar. However, we do not recommend using human toothpaste as the Fluoride content can be toxic for pets.
Follow along with Lulu as she demonstrates how to have her teeth brushed!

Dr. Johnson's dog, Eider, and his favourite toy - the Mega Egg!
Dr. Johnson loves how this toy is great for Eider to play independently. He can chase it around for hours without it having to be thrown over and over.
We have a winner🥳🥳🥳
Thank you so much for bringing in all of your beautiful colouring!
We have so many great ideas from your feedback too.
These earmites have started their long weekend party early!
We found these little guys hanging out in a cat’s ears this morning. Unfortunately, we crashed their party with a good ear cleaning and some medications!
Wishing everyone an enjoyable and safe May long weekend!
Today, Lulu got to try our clinic’s new tool - a therapeutic laser!
This laser reduces inflammation with an infrared beam of light, is quick, painless, and very low stress for even our most nervous patients!
Great for back and muscle pain, it is also very useful for wounds, ear infections, surgical incisions, and the list goes on!
Stay tuned for more informational posts on our very exciting new toy!
