What an accomplishment! Their first trial Danielle Fox and Eevi vom Foxfield competed against the best police and transport Explosive dog teams from across Canada. After 3 days of challenging searches Danielle and Eevi finished number one ! So proud of Danielle on her amazing work . Bred / trained and handled to first place at a National event !!

Congratulations to Danielle Fox who finished 1st place [Top Dog] in explosive detection at the 2023 CPCA Dog Trials recently held in Barrie, Ontario.

L'exercice s'appelle "La fuite".

Le but de l'agitateur est d'atteindre une ligne située à 20 pas de son point de départ avant que le chien ne l'attrape. Le chien part 5 pas derrière l'agitateur.

Le but du chien est d'arrêter l'agitateur avant qu'il n'atteigne la ligne d'arrivée. Certains chiens y mettent vraiment un effort considérable.

The exercise is called "The escape".

The object of the helper is to reach a line 20 paces from its starting point before the dog catches it. The dog starts 5 paces behind the agitator.

The goal of the dog is to stop the helper before he reaches the finish line. Some dogs really put a lot of effort into it.

Well an eventful week for Fidèle vom Foxfield (aka NYX) with Handler Melissa D. from the Montreal Airport Authority. They competed in the 2022 Can-Am Police / Fire games in Windsor Ontario in Explosive detection. Teams from across Canada and America came to trial. Teams were challenged with a number searches at different venues over the week . In the end Mel and Nyx came home with first place ! Congratulations Team!!

During the night 3 males robbed a pharmacy in Scarborough & fled in a stolen car. Officers followed them to the area of Weston Road & 401 where they arrested two of the males. The third male fled on foot, disappearing into a residential area. The K9 Team of Officer R. Kazzouh with PSD Rookie were called in. Rookie made quick work in searching & found the suspect (who promptly gave himself up instead of running). Some say the police don’t catch the smart criminals. Well, this one certainly showed smart judgement! Great job by Officer Kazzouh and Rookie!!! 🐾

Hag-Ali and colleagues highlight the potential for using trained dogs for detecting COVID-19 positive patients. The dogs, originally trained for explosives detection, were able to detect COVID-19 positive sweat samples with a sensitivity rivaling the gold-standard RT-PCR test currently used.
