New CDC Dog Importation Rules Coming August 1, 2024
If youโre planning to enter the United States with your dog this summer, please read!
Proposed changes by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) suggest that, as of August 1st 2024 new requirements will be in place for cross border travel (air/land/sea) into the United States.
These requirements include (but are not limited to):
-All dogs must be over 6 months of age
-A completed CDC Dog Import Form (not available until July 15th 2024) will need to be filled out 2 to 10 days before arriving in the U.S. This form requires a clear and recent photo of the dog showing its face and body.
- A Foreign Export Certificate completed by your Veterinarian
-Must have an ISO compatible microchip, documented on the record of vaccination
-Have a valid Rabies vaccine administered after the ISO compatible microchip is placed and confirmed
-Have a documented medical/vaccine history available for the previous 6 months.
-Have these documents endorsed by a CFIA Veterinarian within 30 days of your entry to the United States
