This is Freya! She’s just about a year old and has been exploring at the field since she was just a pup. She loves all the interesting smells and thinks the trees are the best place for a game of hide and seek. 🫣

This one is for our special dog friends who struggle with noise phobias.

I became aware, once we had already moved in to our new location, that some of our new neighbours train gun dogs. Which is pretty cool, but not so cool for any dogs that struggle with loud noises. It doesn’t seem to be super frequent most of the time. It’s not something I have much control over unfortunately, but I was able to get in touch with that neighbour to see if there were any times or days that it’s less likely that they will be doing training. So if you have a dog that has a noise phobia, feel free to let me know when you are booking and I can hopefully get you set up in a time when you’re not likely to overlap with any training happening next door.

For everyone, even if you dog doesn’t typically struggle, if you find yourself there during gun training and you decide to leave early because your dog is finding it a bit too distressing, please let me know and I will give you a free visit at another time.

And I have also been assured that they train with blanks only, never real ammunition. So there are no safety concerns on that end at least.

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying the last weeks of summer. I’ve been away from social media for quite some time. The last year or so has been a tricky one for me and I discovered early on that when I need to triage responsibilities, social media gets pushed right to the bottom. It’s not my strong suit to begin with. But here I am with a plan to do better!

Over the coming weeks I’m hoping to put out some regular posts, sharing updates and housekeeping reminders. I would also like to spend some time celebrating your dogs! So, if you are a registered user of the park and would like to have your dog(s) included please feel free to send me a photo through private message(either Facebook messenger or email, wherever we communicate most regularly). Include their names and any extra information you’d like me to share about them. What they love most about the field. What you love most about them.

As some of you may have seen, there’s a new feature at the field for the dogs to check out! I finally had an open block of time to be able to play around with an idea I’ve had in the back of my mind. A yard of sand and a stash of old tires later!

It’s finally warming up and drying out at the field!! (Still mud to be found, so watch your step!) And with the warmer weather we want to make sure the pups stay hydrated.

It is recommended that you bring your own water and water dish for safety reasons. However, if you do forget, I’ve set up some jugs of water with a small stack of water bowls for you to use if needed. Each time I go to the field I’ll pick up the used bowls and replace them with clean ones(I’ll stack the clean ones upside down).

Warning! ⚠️ With all the snow and rain it’s very wet and muddy at the field. Bring appropriate footwear and towels for the dogs. At least the dogs love it! 💞

I’m here at the field, meeting new clients, and have managed to lock my keys in the truck. As well as my schedule book.

I have a ride arranged in order to get home to get my spare key, but my truck will be here for an extended period of time today. If you have time booked today I wanted to make sure you expect to see me truck here. If you have a time booked today and it would be detrimental to you dog to have me show up to pick up my truck, please let me know. I will time my arrival so that it doesn’t overlap with your time. Thanks!

It’s our birthday! Field of Dogs is 1 year old today. And we reached our goal of 365 invoices! Two free visits went to Helen and Mark and their sweet beagle Toffee. They’ve been some of our regulars and we’re so glad they’re part of the Field of Dogs community.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of you! So excited for the next year. 💞

We have some big news to share! Field of Dogs is almost 1 year old! We had our very first visitor on Feb 4/2022. And since then I have sent out almost 365 invoices, averaging almost one a day! So in celebration, if we can make it to our 356th invoice by February 4th I’d like to give two free visits to whoever books the big invoice #365.
A huge thank you to everyone for helping to make it a success! I look forward to hearing from you!

The snow is here! And we’ve got some PSAs for you.

1. Please be very careful on the roads! They are clear for the most part but there are patches of ice to watch out for.
2. Howard Rd has been plowed but is still quite snowy. Take it slow.
3. If you normally come from the inland highway, along south Farnham road I recommend taking the long way and coming from the old highway. This will take longer but unless you’re confident in your driving and your vehicle’s ability to handle going up a couple steep, snowy hills it may be the safer option.
4. If you are concerned about your ability to get to the field, please don’t hesitate to contact me about rescheduling. This includes if you try to get to the field and get to a point you’re not comfortable with and turn around. Let me know you didn’t make it and we’ll accommodate you. Your safety and comfort come first.

I’ve been super busy with the move and some reno’s at home, which has disrupted my walking routine with Kura. We finally got back into a regular routine this week and I can’t believe how much more grounded I feel after our walks. The field is for your dogs, but it’s for you too! Take the time to take a breath while you’re there.😊

Get away from the constant sales and promotions and talk yourselfw & your dog for a walk! Decompression Walks are for people too!

The good news is finally here! I’m proud to say I’m officially opening booking at the new field. First day of operations will be tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23.

As I get people booked in, I will provide everyone with directions on how to get there. I will be contacting all my regulars and anyone who asked to be notified, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch. If you haven’t heard from me by the end of the weekend but were expecting to, please send me a reminder! I expect it will take a few days to catch up, so please bear with me. I’ll get to everyone as soon as I can.

I want to send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone for all of your patience while we work through this transition. I had hoped to be open for you all by this weekend but due to multiple setbacks and time restraints we’re not quite there. I will be there every possible hour this weekend getting the final touches done. And you will hear from me as soon as we’re ready for our first visitors.

We broke ground on the new fence today! A little sneak peak at the little wooded area we were able to include in the field. It will hopefully scratch the itch of those dogs who will miss the wildness of the current field the most.

While we made steady progress today it was still slow going. Because of time restraints due to my other job we likely won’t meet my goal of a smooth transition this coming weekend. I’ve made the call to get every last day we can out of the current field. I’ll take bookings for the current field up to Wed, Nov 9 if anyone wants to squeeze any more visits in before our move. Then there is a possibility that we won’t be ready to open at the new location until that weekend or early the next week.

A quick update on our relocation status. We have been given a small extension on our stay at the current location. I am now taking bookings until Saturday, November 5 which will all be for the existing location. This Thursday we begin putting in the posts at the new location and the fencing should follow shortly after that. I’m anticipating a day or two of closures and we will hopefully be up and running in our new space. As things don’t always go as planned I will wait until things are further along before I open booking for the new field.

So, we have some very big news to share with everyone. Things for the field have changed very quickly over the last few weeks.

The sad news first: The property where the field is currently located went up for sale. And then very quickly sold. There was hope that the new owners might be interested in continuing to rent to us, but that didn’t end up being the case. Our last day of operation at the current location will likely be Wednesday, October 26. I will be in contact with anyone that has bookings past that date to discuss options.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Calvin Bailey and Brittany Bjornson for being the best landlords I could have hoped for while starting up and getting used to running a business. They were always supportive and helpful and I wish them all the best.

And now for a bit of hopeful news: I may have already found a new location for the field. We’re busy sorting out logistics and working out start up costs. With a little bit of luck there will be minimal interruptions to field availability. I will keep everyone updated here. It will have a very different feel to the current field but I hope we’ll be able to continue to meet all your needs and help create some very happy pups.

When you get home from a weekend away and discover someone has driven through the field’s fence. Again. I’ve contacted everyone who will be affected. The repairs are expected to be finished up by the end of the day.

It’s broom busting season at Field of Dogs!

I’ve been working hard, but may not get it all done before it goes to seed. Which is why I’m offering, for a limited time(1-2weeks), free sessions at the field to anyone willing to donate 20-30min of your session to cutting broom. This is a limited time offer with limited quantity depending on demand so check in with me soon!

If you’re interested, PM me to book a free session. If you’re already booked in and want to take some time cutting broom, let me know and your next session will be free. This does not include new customers doing a meet and greet. If you are a new customer and are interested in helping out I could book you your meet and greet session($15) plus a second free session.
