What trust looks like...
What a session! Ellie and A took it up a notch by playing Horse in the Pocket where A needed to get Ellie into a variety of “parking spots” around the arena, all without using a lead rope or touching her in any way. Trust played a huge role in their success along with planning, perseverance, bravery, and HUMOUR 😄🐴💗👩🏼 Way to go, girls!
🐥interMISSION #2:
For those of you that are missing the calm and focus that being with the horses at Mission Hill Farm brings, here’s our daily interMISSION! Take a break, find your focus and hit the reset button 🔄
No matter your age, watching chicks fall asleep with full bellies is so relaxing! The occasional body surfer makes for a good laugh, too...
Try watching the video with the sound off. Use lots of adjectives to describe what you see to someone. Make up a short story or poem about what the chicks are thinking!
Try closing your eyes while playing the video with sound on. What do you notice that you didn’t when you were watching them? How does closing your eyes change your perspective?
Can you differentiate between the sounds they’re making?
“Baby Talk” (from flipflopranch dot com):
Pleasure peep-A soft, irregular chirp that says “I’m here and all is well.”
Pleasure trill-A soft warbling sound often used when settling down for a nap that says “Life is good.”
Fear trill-Loud, sharp repeated sound that says “Don’t hurt me!”
Startled peep-Sharp chirp that sounds as startled as it is meant to be. It says “Whoa!”
(Note: these guys have lots of room to roam, they just like to sleep in heaps under the heat lamps 😊🐥)
So amazing to see the bond that’s created between an EAL participant and her horse teammate - trust, friendship, and mutual respect all came together as “the girls” went on a liberty walk 💗
