First and foremost Piper and Ivy were trained @golden_leashk9s and they are amazing! I absolutely love meeting clients whose dogs are previously trained and trained well. Makes my time with them fun as I know what they are capable of doing. Some benefits of the Place Command - it allows the dogs to be apart of family activities while remaining calm. For hyperactive or reactive dogs it’s like an off switch, for timid dogs it’s a safe space. By teaching Place you are building confidence and working on impulse control which helps immensely while out on walks. It also helps with focusing on the handler, building a bond, it gives them a job to do instead of the job they chose for themselves (barking excessively, jumping, knocking people over) There are many other benefits these are just a few. I use the out command not only for playing fetch but when we are on walks if Vesta or any of the other dogs in my care pick up something they shouldn’t have (food, garbage, sticks) an out command comes in handy. We walked by the lake yesterday and you can only imagine how much geese poop was there. Instead of turning around we continued on the walk with ease with zero poop eaten. Attempted yes, eaten No! It was a great walk full of distractions, clarifying my leadership role, and building focus. As dog owners it’s our job to guide them, train them, keep them safe, and love them unconditionally. As your dog walker I do the same for your dogs that I would for mine.
