This is a safe way for your dog to drop those extra pounds without applying stress to their joints. Did you know that 1 minute of walking in the water is equivalent to 4 minutes of running on land? That is a lot of calories being burned off in a short period of time. Hydrotherapy does not just stop there it also helps build muscles and increase range of motion in stiff joints. 🐾

Riggs is doing hydrotherapy to reduce arthritis pain and build muscle without stressing his joints. The warm water helps him move freely and increases his range of motion. It's hard for older dogs to go out in the cold, which can lead to weight gain and weakness. Hydrotherapy keeps him fit and pain-free during winter! 🐾

Marshall was being a playful puppy that lead him to have an accident where he fell and broke his femur head. Surgery was performed to remove the broken femur head allowing him to be pain free. He has joined the Hydrotherapy program to build muscle around the hip to create more stabilization due to no femur head. Marshall has a full life ahead and his future looks bright! 🐾

A Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) is a connective tissue in the knee that stabilizes the lower leg to the upper leg. Dogs tear or rupture their CCL through running, jumping, heavy impact (jumping off the bed) or simply a sudden movement. Symptoms of CCL injuries in dogs include:▪️Lameness or limping in the hind legs ▪️Favouring one hind leg ▪️Swelling around the knee▪️Difficulty laying down or getting up ▪️Pain or tenderness near the injured knee •A vet is able to diagnose a rupture or partial torn CCL through X-rays, range of motion tests and lameness exam.•Ava recently had TPLO surgery to repair her ruptured CCL. She has started in the Hydrotherapy program to strengthen her knee, reduce inflammation and increase range of motion all while not applying stress to her joints! 🐾•

An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip, by removing the head and neck of the femur. This removes the ball of the ball-and-socket joint, leaving just an empty socket. The muscles of the leg will initially hold the femur in place and, over time, scar tissue will form to provide cushioning that is referred to as a ‘false joint’. Although this joint is anatomically very different from a normal hip joint, it provides pain-free mobility in most patients.
