At the Minden Animal hospital, it is clear we’re all animal lovers with 40+ pets between us. Each staff member is dedicated to making your pets’ visit to the hospital as anxiety free as possible. This may explain why so many of our clients tell us that their dogs happily run to the door of the hospital, and pull their owners down the hall to our exam rooms for their weigh in and examination. We tr

eat them like our own animals and want their visit with us to be stress free and fun even if they are having procedures they do not want. At the Minden Animal Hospital you will find proactive wellness exams to prevent many health crises, acting on small problems before they become big ones. Instead of treating symptoms, the cause of the problem is addressed and your animals get better in far less time. Education on preventive measures to keep pets healthy or to catch problems early on, helps your pets live longer and healthier lives. This full service clinic offers internal medicine; surgery, dentistry, radiology, in- house diagnostics, comfort priority protocols including therapeutic laser treatments, pharmacy on site, alternative medicine, house calls, specialist referrals (or they travel to our hospital) and second mile service, with a smile, every time you come in. Because sometimes illness in our pets happens at an inopportune time and financing some treatment plans can be tough, we offer payment plans and credit care for our clients. Pet-Proof Your House for Fall: Tips from Pet Playcations! 🐾🍁

As the cozy fall season approaches, it’s time to make sure your home is as safe as it is comfy for your pets! Here are some essential tips to pet-proof your home this autumn:

1. Watch Out for Toxic Plants & Decor 🌿🍂
Fall plants like chrysanthemums and festive decorations like dried corn and candles can be dangerous to pets if chewed or knocked over. Stick to pet-safe decor and keep fragile items out of reach.

** Did you know that some fragrance candles can release harmful chemicals that may irritate your pet’s respiratory system? 🕯️🐾 Consider switching to pet-safe essential oils or flameless alternatives to keep your furry friends healthy and happy! 🌿

2. Keep an Eye on Seasonal Foods 🍗🥧
With more hearty meals and treats around, make sure foods like chocolate, grapes, onions, and rich dishes stay off your pet’s menu. Secure trash cans to prevent any sneaky snack attacks!

3. Secure Wires from Heaters & Lamps 🔌🔥
As the temperature drops, more heaters and lamps get plugged in. Make sure cords are hidden or covered to avoid curious paws from getting tangled or chewing on them.

4. Prepare for More Indoor Time 🏠🐶
Although its still super for right now, fall typically means the start of cooler weather and less outdoor time, so create a cozy space indoors where your pet can relax. Make sure their toys and bedding are clean and easily accessible for when the cooler weather hits. And start brainstorming some fun indoor activities for your pets (don't worry, we'll be posting plenty of ideas for ya!)

5. Check Doors & Windows 🚪🍁
Fall winds can make doors swing shut quickly, and the last thing we want is a paw pinched in the door. Use doorstoppers and check that windows are secure to prevent escape artists from sneaking out!

With these simple steps, your home will be safe and snug for you and your pets this fall! 🍁🐕🐈
