PEACE Farm Sanctuary is a Microsanctuary in Mission, BC and part of the charity PEACE Canada.

PEACE Farm Sanctuary was established in 2022, and a program through the registered Canadian charity People Ensuring Animal Care Exists (P.E.A.C.E.), also known as PEACE Canada (). PEACE Farm Sanctuary is a Rooster Microsanctuary which focuses on creating an animal-centred design home for its residents. Also attached to the sanctuary is a veganic farm, event space, and wildlife ref

uge against the mountain. The plan is to expand the sanctuary in the future, to offer homes to more rescues through the charity's PEACE Rescue program. The cutest cuddler, Henry. 🧡
We are doing health checks at least daily on the boys, as we have a mycoplasma positive flock. That means they are more susceptible, especially in this colder weather, to get respiratory infections. There’s no cure, just lifetime treatment and management. This includes keeping their space nice and clean, and treatment with antibiotics if any signs show up.

Petey did a thing! If you have come for a tour here you already know 😆 We joke the little man took things into his own hands, decided the humans were taking too long, and “self-liberated” himself on day two, as we found him hanging out with the big boys in the coop that night 😂
We think he was very motivated and squeezed himself through the bottom section of the temporary fencing that separated him and the others, because some of the boys made a small indent there by dust bathing. Was there any commotion? Nope! Nobody made a noise when he joined them, we just found everyone chillin’ on their perches like nothing had happened.
Will say, one of the easiest integrations to date! 😅❤️

Hoof trim adventures for all the goats today with our amazing Ferrier ❤️ Willow decided us hunched over is a perfect rock shaped item to jump up on. She’s for sure getting too big for that! 😅 Ouch. Also so proud of Timmy. The girls were for sure more of a handful than him this time around. 🙃 lol
In other news, still going strong with building the goat and pig spaces before the cold sets in! The crazy amounts of rain we have been getting, of course added a bit of an adventure, but hey, it can always be worse 😂😅
LUCKILY so far it’s looking like great weather for our annual Halloween event next Sunday! It’s going to be a fun event! Can’t wait to see everyone in their amazing costumes! ☺️👻

Now that the ducks were able to move into their new space, Cluckers (aka Petey) joined the big boys ❤️ We have him in the fenced off area inside the run, and at night he sleeps with them in the bigger predator proof coop. We will see how slow integration goes in the next few weeks to a month, and see if this group is a good fit for him. Everyone is very curious of him and he for sure thinks he can take on Brent (pic2) 😅

The boys are out and about exploring their new space today! The only thing to still complete is their ponds’ pump which is on the to-do for this morning. It will help us filter the water, as well as moving water stays clean longer and doesn’t freeze as fast. Not to mention the wonderful white noise running water makes! 🦆💙

For anyone who’d like to watch the boys preen after all of us have been enjoying the cool wet weather here on the west coast. John also put everyone on alert when he decided to flap his wings, which in turn made Josh decide to vocalize his top dog status and “politely” ask Henry to get off his perch. All caught on camera. 🥰🎥 . Anyone who has had to dig post holes manually or even with a hand-held auger, will understand the pure joy we felt using this tractor auger attachment today for the first time! 😭 (happy tears) This will make fencing the top for the goats and pigs so much easier when the posts arrive later this month! 🥳

Welcome our newest member, aptly named by his rescuers, Mr Cluckers. . Cluck was found wandering around Burnaby, where they allow backyard chickens, or more precisely hens. Ppl probably hatched some eggs without realizing (or caring) there’s a 50/50 chance they’d be a boy, and because city bylaws don’t allow roosters, decide to dump him as an easy meal for predators. Luckily for him, it didn’t come to that. . He was tested off site for avian influenza and it came back clear, so was able to come here yesterday! To say we were surprised about how small he is, is an understatement 🤣 He’s currently in quarantine at the PEACE Rescue Barn, and when he’s a bit bigger, we’ll introduce him to the rest of the boys here at PEACE Farm Sanctuary.

Solar powered mini fountain for the win! Played around with the idea today and the boys like ♥️ Now we will maybe spruce it up for fun with some rocks?

When we were notified that Avian Flu is full on starting up again in B.C. (we had a short break this Summer), we had this tarp ready to cover the boys, which was a project we completed recently. .
