Today’s Community Pack Walk in collaboration with @unleashhappiness was a wet, productive and break through walk for most.
If your dog struggles being around multiple dogs, take this walk as a learning experience and gauge what’s triggering your dog. Learn their thresholds - when they’re getting close and at what level they are entering the pack walk with. And the biggest thing? Accountability. Be ready to hold your dog accountable with clear and precise communication.
Today was a great mix of newcomers and pack walk regulars! Our regulars were great role models/neutral dogs to train alongside for our new dogs and owners. Who you train with makes a work of a difference in your dog’s progress! 👏

You guys know Tucker is a rescue but now that we’re fostering, rescues now hold an even bigger place in my heart. These stray dogs and dogs that are getting dumped on the side of the road can make some of the most amazing dogs.
You never know what a rescue dog is capable of until you give them your all and see. Don’t give up on them when introducing them into your home, give them time to decompress, than go to town and train your heart out together.

What can I say about my amazing foster that won’t cause me too many tears 🥺. Lela is a very confident and goofy 5 month old GSDxHusky. She’s the goofiest, smartest, adventurous, and all around well-rounded puppy with an amazing off-switch who loves ending her nights with a good cuddle sesh.
We have been putting in lots of work, helping shape her calm mindset, engagement, leash manners, neutrality, structure and recall. Teaching a puppy the art of doing nothing may be boring at times, but it’s the most rewarding skill you can teach for their own mental health! Her heel is coming along perfectly in addition to her loose leash walking. Her engagement with myself as her handler is unlike any other - once you have her trust, she will look to you and only you.
She gets along seamlessly with my older dog Tucks, a 12 year old PittxMastiff, who’s teaching her the rights and wrongs of interacting with other dogs. She is, however, skiddish around unfamiliar dogs. Loud and pushy dogs send her into flight mode, so slow introductions and advocating for her space will be key! 🔑 Dog parks are an absolute no for this girl. This also extends to people/strangers.
Lela’s also a paddle dog! She joins Tucker and I on the board and does extremely well remaining calm and collected on the water, which she also loves 💦.
She would thrive in a home who is already dog-savy, understands the importance of balancing her needs, activity levels and structure along with having the time to continue on her training she so dearly loves. Having an active lifestyle where you can share experiences together would benefit her greatly. Breed experience and a home with no children is an absolute must!

I get this question a lot so let’s break it down.
🌲 Our hikes are fun, scenic, get your heart rate going, and a great place to meet friends & share stories about our dogs. Our hikes make for great opportunities to enjoy a hike with friends without having the fear of having run ins from the public and having to handle it alone. I feel this is THE thing that keeps many people away from enjoying the trails solo with their dogs is the fear of the worst happening.
🐕 Our Structured Pack Walks are just that. Still fun and scenic, but these walks are meant to be focused on your dogs training. Structure means space, safety and the opportunity to make progress around possible triggers, dogs, humans, and real life situations. You will bring your foundation learned from your trainer and put it to work around a safe and judgement-free space. We also collaborate with local dog professionals such as @thek9mindsetacademy, @unleasheddt, @pennyspalsyyjand @unleashhappiness to offer you Structured Pack Walks alongside a professional dog trainer. Great for those needing help and seeking advice around loose leash walking, building engagement, dog reactivity, human reactivity, and anxiety.
Make no mistake, all rules for our Structured Pack Walks are followed along even for our Pack Hikes. Our Hikes are simply a little less structured environment, however, your dogs space is still very much respected, there are no face to face meetings, butt sniffs or close encounters.
The safety of my pack is my #1 priority as I always say, if I wouldn’t put my own dogs in a situation, I won’t with anybody else in my pack 💯

Our weekends lately have been spent with the doggos who have been a blessing in getting me up out of my funk and give me purpose and motivation. Some people prefer human kids and some, like myself, prefer the company of dogs. Either way, it’s hard work, but beyond rewarding 🤗

For the record, if I could quit everything and open up a sup pup school for teaching dogs how to paddle, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I’ve had the pleasure of teaching many of my friends dogs and my own, including my foster puppy, how to paddle and how to do it confidently.
Teaching Lela was actually quite easy as she’s a pretty fearless little bean sprout 🌱. That didn’t mean I didn’t start off with baby steps though!
I first started off with having the boards deflated in the backyard, although she jumped right on with Tucker like it was nbd 😝. I rewarded her every time she went on the board, inflated or not. Next, once fully inflated, I tested her balance on my @irockersup that’s better and higher quality with more stability than my other beginner board I first bought years ago. Once i noticed her confidence growing even when I wobbled it, it was time to hit the road. *I would spend more time on this step if your dog is nervous and needs a slower introduction!
Upon getting to the lake, I kept the board slightly on ground and half in the water so she can get the feeling of the balance she would need for the board. A step further, we kept to the shallow water 💦. Tucker did his thing, keeping tabs and all eyes on us while Lela was being rewarded for her “downs” on the board. She was completely unphased and her confidence shown through the whole time.

A perfect recap of our weekend spent training, socializing and having fun.. puppy edition 🤩
We spent this past weekend training our butts off around friends and doggos who were Tucker approved ✔️. Saturday we were vendors at @the.mango.market alongside some other patient and friendly vendors who helped me socialize her to select new people.
Sunday was jam packed of walks, training and attending our first @endless._.pawsabilities adoption event. We attended with an open mind where she far exceeded my expectations, keeping her focus on myself and a calm composure at all times. We saw some familiar faces and had a drink with our lovely friends Tammy & Kevin at @campbeerco as well.
This weekends shenanigans made me realize Tucker and I are doing something right with Miss Lela! ❤️.
I talk a lot about her drive and passion to follow her people and work, but she equally LOVES her cuddles, alone time, independence, adventuring and having another dog in the house to learn from - Tucker always seems to be the exception for most dogs who may struggle with reactivity or other dogs ❤️. To note, she gets very nervous around dogs who display high energy and pushy behaviour. A home with no kids is a must! Her dislike for high energy also extends over to people and children. She’s great at telling others when she’d like to be left alone if you watch for her ques.
She would make for a perfect adventure dog for somebody who’s willing to put in the work to create that bond, work her little mind, and show her what is expected as she soaks everything up like a sponge and follows direction very well 👍

As Lela has been thriving in our home with careful and structured exposure to dogs and people, she is hesitant on high energy and strangers impeding on her space. She loves her people and is great with other calm/neutral dogs so a slow introduction is key for her and will do lots of good!
Lela is a very timid, affectionate, and confident girl with an amazing off switch! In our house, there is a time for play but also lots of downtime and structure. She is completely crate trained and potty trained 👌
Join us this Sunday from 1-3pm over at Camp to meet lots of adoptable dogs - make sure to check out the @endless._.pawsabilities adoptable dogs and who will be at the event.
Please note, we will not be staying the whole event. I will carefully be watching her comfort level and threshold. We will be sitting off to the side, not within the play pen, so be sure to send me a DM if you’d love to come meet Lela or arrange a private meet & greet (must be a pre-approved adopter before meeting any of their dogs 👍)

Long story short, Tucker’s struggles and behavioural issues gave us THIS kinda life and saying it was a blessing in disguise would be a vast understatement.
Happy 12th Birthday to the very dog who changed my whole life and took me to so many beautiful and life changing places.
