This post is from Aug 9/23...With heavy hearts we are looking to rehome our beloved black tri colour mini aussie Murphy. He is 3 years old neutered, 46 pounds and about 17 inches at the shoulder (medium sized). Fully up to date with his shots. knows all basic commands (sit stay, sit pretty, lay down, roll over, paw, touch) he is potty trained and crate trained as well as basic agility and level one scent work. He loves playing fetch and going for hikes. His recall is very good, but due to his reactivity with large breed dogs we mostly were working on leash or long line. We were currently working on his reactivity with large dogs and with stranger danger. He has a loud alert bark and is anxious about new situations. Recently he’s shown aggression to children so he will need a home that is experienced with herding breed and no children. He is so smart and very receptive to training but we just can’t risk it with a 6 month old crawling around.
He would love a home with a yard (he protects his yard and has natural herding instincts) but he was perfectly happy in a condo. We usually did 2 walks a day and some enrichment work ( work for your dinner/puzzles, frozen kong or lick mat. He also loves his evening bone. He loves his down time and would often escape to our bedroom where he laid in front of the air conditioner with his belly up and 4 paws in the air
Murphy is super attached to us and always greets his family with a butt wiggle and he’s very vocal (loves to talk and howl at sirens)
We hope to find him a home that will appreciate his quirky personality (he loves rolling on the grass/ and swimming, gets zoomies when he gets his paws wet, and loves playing tug of war. He would often go to his toy box and find the best toy and present it to you to play tug)
We are asking a rehoming fee of $500 to ensure the right fit and we would provide all of his belongings (herding ball, bed, crate, leash etc) to find the best fit for him. It will take him some time to adjust to his new home, as he is very connected to us. But once you earn his trust he will be your best friend.
