Koda | Female ♀️ | 5 months old | Husky/Shepherd Mix 🐺 🐶| Dogs: Yes | Cats: Yes | Kids: Yes

Are you looking for a pocket sized Shepherd? Look no further! Koda is the perfect girl for you.

This sassy yet sweet girl will steal your heart with her cuteness. Very food motivated - will do anything for a treat. She loves car rides, and long walks. She's the life of the party, being very confident and ready to go on new adventures with you.

Koda gets along well with other dogs, and the cat in her current foster home. Very loud and proud when playing with other dogs, always has to get her opinion accross.

Working on leash manners. Loves being active, but with snuggle up with you at bedtime. She is a water dog, kiddie pools and drinking out the hose is her favourite past time.

Although they may be cute, puppies are a lot of work! Puppies need families that are home often to continue working on their house training and socialization. Their adoptive family must be committed to registering them for obedience classes.

She is being fostered in Woodstock, ON.

Apply to adopt on our website!

📣 Do you have experience with whelping? We want you!

We know summer vacations are in full swing but if anyone is around this summer, and wants to have memorable experience, please consider being a whelping foster for us!

We are looking for pregnant and/or mom + nursing pup fosters. Our request for help from remote communities is growing very long, and there are mama’s that are about to give birth outside. Previous experiencing with whelping is a bonus but we also have a very knowledgeable team to support you through the experience. We will also supply any and all supplies needed!

Fostering a litter is a ton of work and would be best suited to someone home most of the time or with a flexible work schedule but it is an extremely rewarding experience. You get paid in puppy breath and snuggles.

This is a minimum 8 week commitment until puppies are weaned from mom.

Contact us with any questions or fill out a foster app!

📣ADOPTED📣

How is it possible this adorable dog hasn't had a single application?

The poor guys has been in foster care since October 2023.

Since Morty has been in foster care for so long, we have decided to reduce his fee from $875 to $575.

❤️❤️❤️

About me:
Hi, I’m Mortimer, but my friends call me Morty! I’m a spunky, playful, and outgoing two year old husky mix. Although I’m having a great time with my foster mom, I would really love a furever family to call my own. I’m looking for an experienced adopter who’s committed to continuing my training in order to help me become the BEST boy I can be!

About Morty:
❇️ Goofy, playful, fun and friendly
❇️ Very intelligent and outgoing; absolutely loves people
❇️ Sensitive, sweet, and snuggly
❇️ Highly food motivated

Morty is:
✅ Microchipped
✅ Neutered
✅ Up to date on vaccinations
✅ Up to date on all vetting

Morty’s Training:
🐾 Sit, stay, shake both paws, lay down, come.
🐾 Sits nicely at the door when leashing up for a walk.
🐾 Working on leash manners - going great! He walks very well in a halti.
🐾 Morty is highly food motivated and sharp as a whip, which makes training easy!
🐾 Doesn’t mind his crate, occasionally rests in it of his own accord. Non-destructive; fine to roam freely with no issue.
🐾 A total snuggle bug; absolutely loves cuddles and affection!

Morty would prefer a home with:
➡️ A fenced yard and/or an active adopter!
➡️ No cats due to his prey drive. If any human siblings, older dog-savvy children would be best.
➡️ Experienced owners who are committed to putting in the time and training!

Morty would be fine with or without a dog sibling, although he does love to play and wrestle with friends! He would likely appreciate another dog in the home, for company and playtime. 🫶

His foster mom feels it is important to note that Morty can occasionally feel threatened by other dominant dogs, but time and training have already brought Morty a long way.

📍Morty is current on vaccinations and neutered, he is being fostered near Erin, ON.

📣🆘 Times are desperate for dog rescues and foster homes are needed now more than ever.

We sound like a broken record but the sad reality is Canada is in a full on dog overpopulation crisis. Owner surrenders are at an all time high, shelters are overflowing and dogs are being euthanized due to lack of space, puppy mills are dumping their discarded dogs, and rescues are flooded with multiple requests for help daily. It’s a scary time to be a rescue in this country. Despite all these challenges, rescue does not stop and we have to do our best that we can to help.

Our requests for help from Northern communities is dire, our list of dogs waiting for intake is a mile long and we have no where to put them. Pregnant moms ready to give birth any day now, outside in a remote community, as we are unable to say yes and help as we have no fosters available. Ever thought about being a whelping foster? We provide you with all the supplies and have many, many experienced volunteers to help you along the way.

There are adult dogs at risk of being shot or dumped in these communities, and we are unable to say yes because we have no large dog fosters available.

The spring/summer months make it extra difficult as our current foster homes take some much needed holidays. If you can’t foster long term, we are always looking for respite fosters to take a dog while a volunteer is away.

Faced with the challenges listed above, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to intake rez dogs because it is raining homeless dogs in Canada. We are failing Canada’s dogs. We can’t say yes to help any of these dogs if we do not have reliable foster homes for them to go to. As an entirely foster based rescue, our foster families are the reason these dogs live to see another day. You are genuinely saving a life.

In these unprecedented times, it is impossible for us to give a timeline on how long you will have a foster dog. Adoptions are at an all time low. We are desperate for foster homes but we need COMMITTED families. We can only say yes to a dog if we have somewhere to put the dog. 72 hours in your home and then trying to return a foster dog does not work for us, as we literally have NO WHERE to move these dogs to.

There are so many friendly dogs needing your help.

So why foster?
✅ You help us learn about the dogs personality
✅ You help socialize the dog in a loving home
✅ Fostering increases the dogs chance of getting adopted
✅ You can enjoy a dogs companionship without long term commitment
✅ Best of all? You save a life.

Your help is desperately needed and there are so many dogs we want to help, but we can only help more dogs if we have available families who are willing to open their homes to a dog who is halfway on their journey home.

⁉️ Who can foster?
We accept the help of all kinds of households and lifestyles. Submit an application if you have patience, time, commitment, and a whole lot of love to share and we will let you know if you'd be a good match for any of our rescues. 🐾❤️

We provide you with all supplies you need including collars/leashes, food and bowls, a crate if necessary, toys and dog beds if available.

📍We are a foster based rescue and ask that you are within a 2 hr radius of Mississauga or Cambridge, or are willing to drive to the closest vet and pick up point for supplies.

Please consider fostering. It is free and you get paid in kisses.

Kiwi 🥝 | Female ♀️ | 1 year old | Husky/Shepherd Mix 🐺 🐶| Dogs: Yes | Cats: Yes | Kids: Yes

Dating Bio: Looking for my sweetie! Want someone to cuddle and grow old with.

Adoption Bio: This sweet girl has lots of love to give. Kiwi loves to play with other dogs and ignores the cats in her foster home.

Kiwi would absolutely love to spend most of her time outdoors. So someone that enjoys doing outside things is a must!! Kiwi needs a yard to lounge around in. She would not be content as an apartment dog.

And just as much as she likes being outside, she likes to nap on the couch, just as much. This is easily her second favourite place.

Kiwi is a little nervous and unsure at first but quickly warms up! She would do great with another playful dog in the home, or as a single dog.

Although they may be cute, puppies are a lot of work! Puppies need families that are home often to continue working on their house training and socialization. Their adoptive family must be committed to registering them for obedience classes.

Kiwi is current on age appropriate vaccines and is spayed. She is being fostered in Exeter, ON.

Remember Ollie, formerly Mittens?

She's from Greece where she was found as a stray, but she has come to Canada to find a perfect home!

Olive is a sweet, curious and affectionate girl. She loves her people and her companions, but requires patience with new people.

Olive has a bite history - so she requires experienced large dog handlers. The gravity of this situation was precipitated by excitability and lack of training, as she was previously a street dog. She has since been at MNM K9 facility where she has been around other dogs and people with no concern for further bites.

Olive needs a home with lots of space to roam around, she will not thrive in an apartment/small space as she loves to snoop and wander. She needs enough space to roll around and be her silly self.

Olive cannot live with cats, as she has a moderate prey drive. She is triggered by small animals and has a history of being too aggressive with the cats at her fosters home. It appears that she doesn’t understand her own size.

Olive is a big girl, that is tall and strong. She needs lots of room to have fun, which is why she requires a fenced in backyard.

She loves a good stuffed Kong, lick-mats, brain-teaser games, snuffle mats or toys that she can chew on. She benefits from mental stimulation and enjoys keeping busy.

Olive loves kisses and butt scratches. If she had it her way, she would be a couch dog. She loves to sit with her people and be pet. She is happy to lay with you when she is in sleepy mode, and is great in her crate overnight or when left alone.

Ollie is current on age appropriate vaccines, is spayed, and is microchipped. She is being fostered in Port Colborne, ON

The Burlington, ON, Brant Street and New Street Pet Valu locations have nearly raised their goal of $2000 each to help support Halfway Home K9 for Pet Appreciation month!

If you can get out to the store and can spare a donation, each store needs about $500 each to hit their goal by June 30th.

We are overwhelmed by the effort and support that these stores and everyone who has donated have given us this month.

The rescue has had about $10,000 of unexpected medical bills lately, helping rescues get to a healthy spot where they can be adopted.

Every little bit helps and we thank you from the bottom of our dog-loving hearts!
