Adorable Savannah is here to share that new US travel regulations have been released for dogs! Dogs must appear healthy, have a microchip, and be at least 6 months old. New requirements are coming August 1 for dogs entering the United States. Speak with our team if you plan to travel with your dog to review requirements, and plan ahead!

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Leptospirosis is a disease caused by bacteria carried mainly by rodents and wildlife. Pets can become infected through contact with the urine of infected animals such as raccoons, skunks and rats. Dogs can also contract the disease by swimming in stagnant water or drinking contaminated puddle water. If your outdoor activities could put your dog at risk, speak to your veterinarian to learn if the leptospirosis vaccine is suitable for your pet.

A new Canadian study showed that when a tick is infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, it may be more likely to survive Canadian winters… Yikes! Monthly tick prevention is safest to prevent infection. Talk to one our team members about the best option for your pet!
