So even though if feels too soon after Norman's passing, we wanted to rescue a couple of turkeys before they were all killed for Christmas !! So these two lucky beings need names. We rescued both a male and female, the picture of the turkey with more feathers on his neck is the male (called a tom) and the other is a hen. Please welcome them to Meadowlarke and I look forward to your names :)

Sad few days. We had two animals pass away. Baron who was rescued from slaughter back in 2011. He lived most of the time at Windermere Stables where he was loved and pampered. Her recently retired at Meadowlarke North. He died peacefully after eating his breakfast, we presume from a heart attack. Baron was a gentle soul who gained a lot in confidence since his rescue, he came to us very traumatized, always afraid he was going to be in trouble. He ended up a happy boy and had a girlfriend Willow, who will miss him terribly. Rest in Peace Baron

Norman also passed peacefully. He was rescued from being Christmas dinner and enjoyed his life with the other birds, however he was sometimes a bit naughty about chasing people as male turkeys are territorial. That is why he was in the stall with Margaret during lessons. Rest in peace Norman.

Please welcome our new cow Moocha. She was taken from her mother at one day old as is the norm in the dairy industry. Luckily for her she was purchased at auction by a kind teenager. She then had various homes, learning how to be led and even to be ridden. Moocha needed a new home and we agreed to take her in.

Hello to our competitors for the November 3 Meadowlarke South Schooling Show. Following are the rider and horse assignments for each of the divisions. The Starter and Beginner divisions have been split into two flights each due to the number of entries. This has helped accommodate as many horse preferences as possible whilst also ensuring that none of the horses are being overworked during the day.
A few days before the show we will send out some timing approximations to all competitors to help you plan your show day.

UPDATE: A NAME HAS BEEN CHOSEN. It is Kenzi which means My Treasure in Arabic. I think Momma Eve would like that. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and Especially to Balsam Bakir for the winning name :)
As some of you already know we had a surprise at Meadowlarke North. One of our unhandled rescues Eve, had a foal. She didn't even look fat !! Sadly animals go for slaughter pregnant all the time. Eve and her foal are one of the lucky ones. We now need a name. Eve's foal is a filly and is calm and confident. I look forward to seeing your suggestions :)
