Eli enjoyed his first visit with us, complete with fresh catnip from the garden 😃
Rooney came in for a visit after finding a tick on his forehead! Dr. Fenger easily removed it for him with a tick twister. What is really interesting about Rooney's tick was that it was likely picked up in Connecticut (he just returned home)! Did you know that the city of Lyme, Connecticut is where Lyme disease got it's name? That area and the surrounding region have extremely high tick populations and, of course, extremely high prevalence of Lyme disease. We recommend testing all ticks to see if they are carrying any disease once they are removed and we always recommend tick prevention!
Leo loves his #nexgard - the weather is warming up and ticks are out!!
In early November Dr. Fenger found an injured squirrel on her way to work. She picked her up and after her day at Park she brought her to the Toronto Wildlife Centre where she was assessed and rehabilitated. Today we picked her up and Dr. Fenger was able to release her back to the wild!!!
One of the biggest challenges in multi-pet households is how to feed everyone appropriately. Dr. van der Smissen has this same challenge and so she bought a microchipped activated cat feeder!
This can be especially helpful if you need to feed separate diets, if you have a dog who steals the cat's food or if you have one cat that likes to graze and the other(s) steal their food causing them to become overweight. Though this cat feeder is expensive, in some cases it will ultimately save a ton of money if it means you go through food at a slower rate.

Happy Adoptive Birthday Captain Peeps! Thank you for filling our lives with joy with your spunky personality! Her look to the camera at the end of this video is priceless! ❤️❤️❤️
We need positive vibes from everyone for our dear Captain Peeps. She had been off for a few days so we ran some tests. Unfortunately her bloodwork revealed stage 3 kidney disease (she had been stage 1 for quite awhile prior to this). We have put her on fluids and a few medications and today she has started perking up, she even went for a little stroll around the clinic. We will be re-evaluating her kidney values this weekend and hoping we will see some improvement but she will likely need some additional care long term. But she is feisty and so we are hoping she will fight this with that same spirit!
