🦷 Approximately 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over the age of 3 have active dental disease which is why oral hygiene is so important for our fur-babies!

Here is a great before and after photo of our latest dental patient Tucker!

This week .the.golden.goof came in for a routine dental cleaning. Despite their best efforts, his pet parents have a tough time reaching the back molars in his mouth. RVT Julia did a wonderful job scaling and polishing his teeth! Now Tucker has fresher breath, and his parents can maintain his oral health with daily brushing and dental kibble!

If you have questions about pet dentistry or if you would like to book an appointment, feel free to give us a call!

The very adorable Ocean met Dr.Williams today for her first kitten check up and vaccines! 🐾

She was a super patient and also had a kitten Mani Pedi while purring up a storm in Joanne’s arms (one of our awesome Animal Care Attendants).

We are so happy to be part of your journey Ocean, and can’t wait to see you at your next visit!

Heat stroke is something that we commonly see in pets over the summer months.

The best way to prevent heat stroke in your pets is by allowing them access to areas where they can cool off, giving them breaks from the heat, and keeping them inside on very hot days.

If you are concerned that your pet is experiencing heat stroke DO NOT place them into a cold water/ice bath as this rapid cooling can actually trap heat within the body putting your pet at greater risk of severe complications. Instead, call us or a local clinic in your area immediately for further instructions.

Please share this post to spread awareness this summer!🌞🐾

We are one day closer to the weekend!

Just a friendly reminder that if you plan to bring your pet swimming this weekend please ensure they are supervised. We recommend life vests for all pets near water, as even the strongest swimmers can become fatigued and struggle to stay afloat. Feel free to share this post on your page to spread awareness about the value of life vests for our four-legged swimmers!

Will you be hiding treats around your house this weekend? Make sure to place your hidden treasures in areas your pets can't reach. Small items can be choking hazards for pets, and sweet treats such as chocolates and candies containing xylitol can be toxic if ingested.

🎃Halloween is here! 🎃

While Halloween can be an exciting time for humans it can be scary and potentially dangerous for pets. See our five top safety tips to have a safe Halloween for your pet.

1. Sweet Treats
Many Halloween treats are toxic to our furry friends. Make sure to keep the candy bowl out of reach. If your cat or dog does happen to get into the candy call us and we can help.

2. Decorations
While all the decorations create a fantastically spooky atmosphere, they can be dangerous to our pets. Keep pets away from cords, wires, or garlands that can be choking hazards, and be sure to watch your pets around other decorations. To them, they may look like chew toys!

3. Costumes
While some animals love to dress up, not all animals do. Do not force your animal into a costume it doesn't want to wear. If they seem uncomfortable in a costume try a fun Halloween collar or bandana which can be less stressful.

4. To stay inside or go outside?
Being outside on Halloween can be a pretty scary experience for a pet. Normally everyone is dressed up in costumes and there are lots of unfamiliar noises. It might be safer to leave your pets at home. Find a nice quiet room away from the front door and give them a chew toy or treat to keep them occupied.

5. ID Tags and Microchip
If you are going to take your dog out on Halloween make sure they are wearing up-to-date ID tags. If they aren't already microchipped, consider getting a microchip for them. Many dogs when they are scared can slip out of their collars. Having a microchip gives you the best chance of being reunited with a lost pet.

Halloween should be fun for all, including our furry friends!

As you prepare for the witches and wizards to arrive, remember to store all goodie bags out of your pet's reach. Halloween treats such as chocolate and candies are dangerous for pets. Visit bit.ly/OVMA-holiday-hazards to learn more about holiday hazards.

Service dogs have a special place in our hearts!

Service and guide dogs are specially trained to aid and perform tasks for individuals with a disability. If you see a dog wearing a service or guide dog vest, don't approach or distract them - they are a working animal performing an important job.
