BY LAUREN MAULDIN It’s that time of year. When you don’t know if you’ll go to the barn to find your horse covered in blankets or covered in mud. In Texas, we have the added benefit of going from 80 degrees to 30s in a matter of days. For many of us, that means body […]

What a cool seminar! These two wonderful coaches and trainers will use hand-picked demo horses and riders working at a range of difficulty levels to illustrate what the trainer and judge should look for.

Jen will discuss what can be learned from observing warm-ups and exercises over poles. She'll help spectators understand what they're seeing with a variety of horses and levels, and discuss how to make positive changes over fences.

In the afternoon, Donna will co-judge with all spectators, tests from Intro to Second level. She'll discuss what the judge prioritizes and what the rider can work on for improvement. The rider will return for a second, better test, and Donna will judge aloud so participants can catch what she is seeing. She'll share problem solving techniques to help with circles, centre lines and the overall accuracy of riding a dressage test.

Only $50 for the day with lunch included! FREE for all 2024 LTED riders! Bring your clipboard and chair.

All English riders, coaches, and trainers can learn to develop their eye for correctness and flaws, no matter what discipline they ride at home. Come for the day!

Are you practicing good reflection post training? If not you’re likely missing out on an opportunity to improve your focus.

After every training session ask yourself the following three questions:

1. What did I do well?
2. What did I learn?
3. How am I going to implement that learning next session?

This simple process helps us register and process our learning and consciously integrate it into our next session.

On the hard days challenge yourself not to skip the first question. There is always something you did well and acknowledging that helps regulate emotions and helps you remember and repeat what works.

Regular reflection works wonders for learning and for confidence…. Give it a try!

My mom and I drove by our old place in Langley the other week and she asked me, ‘Tiffany, when we were living in that house, would you ever have thought that one day you would come back here and be the highest ranked female rider in the world?’ And the reality is no. I …
