You know what that means? The ticks are rolling in the deep; no they are not singing Adell, they are playing in the leaves and tall grass of course.
Just a reminder that even though we are heading into winter, these little bug-gars are here until at least minus 5, Mark your thermostat🥶. Until then be sure to maintain your tick treatment and bring your twister. (Not the colorful game but the bug extractor 😝).

Puppy 🐶 vaccine 💉 101 (Post 5 of 5)
Rabies
This vaccine is also considered a ‘core’ vaccine and is required by law in many areas. Also required for travel with your pet across borders (hopefully some day again 🔜 🏝)
Symptoms 🤒
Rabies attacks the nervous system. The disease will develop slowly over days to months. Rabies infection will likely be fatal ☠️ in an unvaccinated dog.
Exposure 🤧
Bite from an infected animal; often skunks 🦨, raccoons 🦝, foxes 🦊 and bats 🦇
Risk to humans 😷
YES - protecting your pup will protect you! It is also fatal in humans should they become infected.
📣 Did you know:Us Veterinary staff have been protected against the disease with the Rabies vaccine 💉 ourselves!
Vaccines 💉
MANDATORY ✅
Initial dose: 1 dose at 12 weeks or older(typically given with the final booster shots).
Adult dose: 1 year after initial dose then every 3 years to maintain.
🐾 Some areas legally will require it to be done annually, especially those who travel.
🐾 The test to confirm if your pet had rabies is done post mortem, no test to determine they are infected while alive
🐾 Protocols have been to quarantine and observe the animal for weeks to months to observe signs, those suspected to have rabies will not likely survive the disease ☠️
🐾 once you have your vaccine you will receive a rabies tag, now featuring a QR tag to help return your lost baby 🐶 all you need to do is register and attach it to their collar.
