There are ways to help reactive dogs without yelling at them or tugging hard at the leash 🤨!
✅ Training reactivity with "Leave it" is a game changer!
Gradual training is important! These dogs have all worked on "leave it" inside of the home before coming outside.
Getting too close to another dog before your pup is ready could trigger them and will set their training back 😩.
We avoid letting the dog go into their "red zone" at all costs - which means working from a distance, and only moving closer when there is CONSISTENT progress.

Not today satan 🫧🌬️👹
Dogs deserve love.
They shouldn’t be in pain in order to learn.
They don’t need to fear you in order to respect you.
They should have freedom of choice as long as it is safe.
- Co-signed by all the dogs you’ve ever met
Lets debunk this:
1. Not all human food is bad for dogs. It's about giving them safe, healthy options in moderation!
2. By giving them the yummies away from the dinner table, they'll be less likely to crowd everyone. A slow-feeder can help keep them busy for longer, all while they feel like they're a part of the family and not missing out on all the wonderful smells.
3. Wait for the right moment! Consider waiting for everyone to be done eating before giving them anything.
4. Stick to safe choices like plain meats and veggies to avoid upsetting their stomach.
5. Avoid cooked bones (high risk of choking, splintering, and piercing their digestive tract) chocolate, grapes, onions, heavily seasoned meats.
By sharing safe, dog friendly foods in moderation, you'll make your pup feel like a part of the family, satisfying their curiosity and reducing the chances of unwanted begging and jumping!

"Leave it" is one of the most versatile behaviors to teach your dog!
In this video you can see Chacha, who is typically reactive towards dog, start to stiffen and stare at the husky in front of us.
After saying "Leave it" she quickly turns herself towards me for a treat!
By rewarding her for focusing on me, we're not only reinforcing the behavior we want (looking away from the other dog), but we're also helping her create a positive association with calmly observing other dogs from a distance.
Over time, she'll begin to feel more relaxed around them, because the presence of another dog now predicts something good for her.
It’s a win-win, building both her skills and confidence!

It can be so frustrating when you’re with an anxious dog who’s fearful of strangers, and someone approaches them without checking in first.
Over the years, I’ve learned that being direct and clear is actually safer for everyone, rather than saying things like “she’s shy,” which can lead people to think they’ll be the one exception because “all dogs love them.”
We recommend using firm, straightforward language like this 👇:
1. “Please don’t approach; my dog is afraid of strangers.”
2. “Stop, my dog isn’t comfortable with people.”
3. “My dog isn’t friendly, please give us space.”
4. “Stop. My dog doesn’t do well with strangers. Always ask before interacting with a dog you don’t know.”
That last one can help educate people, by making them more mindful with other dogs in the future!

Let dogs be dogs 🥹
Honestly, how frustrating would it be to live in a world of RULES, in ANOTHER LANGUAGE, while being tied to a leash most of your life.
Dogs deal with human constructs and lifestyles very well, considering how limiting they can be for them.
Sometimes we just need to take them as they are and offer them what they need!
