First of all, I would like to introduce myself as a crazy animal lover. That's what a lot of people say, but it's true! Although I don't have any pets of my own at the moment (for reasons outside of my own control), I have lived with dogs and cats for as long as I can remember up until I moved out of my parents' house (so, about 25 years of my life). I have also volunteered at the SPCA and have ba
bysat my friends' pets. I am available to walk dogs (and cats, if they're into that stuff), pop in for regular check ups on pets that are left at home alone for extended periods, and pet sit for longer periods of time when my schedule permits and as long as its at your own place of residence. Kitties and pups alike, I will play with them, feed them, give them treats (in moderation so they don't get too chunky!), brush them, and give them loads of cuddles and attention. There is a dog park right across the street from where I live, the Lachine Canal is a 10 minute walk away, and another larger, more frequented dog park is also located within a reasonable distance from my place. Note that I do not have access to a car very often, but pet pick ups/drop offs can be possible if we're lucky! With regards to dog breeds, I am comfortable with all types, including large dogs. I'm also keeping myself up-to-date with all of the city's animal-related bylaws, including those concerning pitbulls (I love pitties!). In terms of dealing with behavioral problems, I am no specialist in dog behavior and would not be entirely comfortable with dogs that show aggression towards people. Sorry :(
During walks, I love letting dogs sniff around and give them time to check out everything. I don't like rushing them and pulling them hard on the leash. After all, the walk is for THEM to enjoy. I can have them take a calm walk or I can run with with them, play fetch, bring them to the dog park. It depends on the dog's energy level. On a normal day, I would take them around the neighborhood, walk them along the Lachine Canal, and/or bring them to the local dog park, depending on the amount of time I have. If it's on a weekend, I can even take them to Mount-Royal.
