Hello!

I hope you are all doing well after our last blast of winter.

I’m seeing new views on my page quite often so I thought it’s the new year how better to start off then with a small introduction and a little history of our business.

I’m Lesley, my current roles are; wife, mom, grandma, dental assistant and the owner of West Star Tack Shop. In 2011 I had a crazy idea to start a mobile tack store. With the help and support of my family and friends West Star Tack Shop was created. Many things happened over the course of the last number of years to change the logistics of our business. At the time of creation we were involved in many horse shows and high school rodeo as you all know as our kids get older our plans change. Once we were traveling less we needed to be where the equestrian community came together, the best place for that was the top notch facility on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds in the Golden Mile Arena (If you are needing to book an event I highly recommend this facility. It is the best in Saskatchewan!). So nearly 14 years that is where we are.

That was our beginnings, now a little about why we do what we do and how we operate now.
WHY
We operate a small farm/ranch near Moose Jaw. Our family has been involved in many aspects of the agriculture industry for over 60 years. My in-laws were instrumental in starting up many horse shows such as The Saskatchewan Stakes and Futurity that saw thousands of very talented exhibitors and horses compete right here in Moose Jaw. The love for horses is a generational thing and we happy to see it carry on not only in our family but yours as well. Without aging myself too much let me tell you how great it is to watch the transition of our young people bringing in a colored picture of their horse to growing up and now being the mentors themselves. That is part of the why, the other part is all of you! The people I have met and the friends made is the absolute best!

HOW
How we operate is a little different. We are open during most equine events that take place in the arena. We are not open on a daily basis. We are available all the time by text, FB messenger or email if you choose. You may be asking why we are not there every day, the main reason is to keep the costs down so we can in turn try to pass those savings on to you. We order from our Canadian suppliers often which also gives you the opportunity to be able to pick colors or styles that you like and not always have to settle for your second choice.

I will post weekly to highlight different products. As always if you are needing something especially for an upcoming event please contact me ahead of time and I will do my best to bring it in for you.
