🚨 Yards by Steve Dog of the Week - Gracie 🚨

In care for 52 days | $125 adoption fee

Yesterday we told you about Gracie, who needs a break from the shelter and asked for a foster. But we thought we would sweeten the deal and make her this week’s Dog of the Week to help her find more than just a foster, but a new home to call her own!

We mentioned that Gracie is a big sweetheart, with lots of energy and big bounces! She has a ton of love to give, is great on long leashes and leashed walks. She can do well in a home with another dog, but would require a slow introduction. Note she would likely NOT do well in a home with cats as her play drive is quite high, and she does not have much experience with cats. Gracie loves attention, but would prefer a home with some older children 10+ years old.

Gracie needs your help! She’s been with us for almost two months and she’s really starting to be affected by the shelter environment. We would love to find a foster (or even an adopter) who can give her a break from the shelter, even if only for a week or two!

Maggie and her puppies are still hanging out at the shelter, waiting for a foster home to call their own. These little ones are growing fast, and we’d love to move them into a cozy, loving home where they can continue to thrive until the puppies are weaned—just about 2 weeks!

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is a wonderful time to step in. We’ll provide everything you need—food, crates, toys, bowls, and treats. All you need to do is open your heart and home.

In a few weeks, the puppies will also need fosters to help them take their first steps into the world without Mom. We’ll need fosters to take on a pair of puppies to help them start learning the basics!

If you’re ready to help Maggie and her little crew, or if you think you can take on a couple of playful pups soon, let us know! Give us a call at 204.822.9413 or email [email protected]

Neel has been in foster now for the last week or so, and his foster has determined he really needs a home of his own! He’s being fostered in a yarn shop 😮 and is enjoying investigating everything! Here’s what his foster has to say:

“He’s incredibly friendly, always up for pets and treats. Everyone comments on his beautiful blue eyes! He’s officially the greeter sitting on the counter when you come to check out…he’s realized he gets the most pets there. He is a best friend type of cat, loves to be by people, will sit on or beside you. He watches what you are doing and “helps”, like following you to the bathroom and waits outside the door.

He’s very patient with kids but leaves when it gets loud or too much action. He’s curious and incredibly playful for how big he is. He loves to chase his toy mice around the store. He has figured out that the bell at the counter makes a sound and will ring it for attention if I’m working in the back.

One of my regular customers told me he’s her favourite out of my fosters so far.”

Pop in at Little Yarn Barn at 169 George in Winkler to meet this love bug today!

Please help us thank the staff and customers of Giant Tiger. They held a couple of fundraisers supporting the PVHS over the last couple of months and with the community’s help raised $2054 for the shelter!

We were able to purchase some much needed supplies, including puppy pads…in case you hadn’t heard, we have eight puppies (and their mom Maggie, pictured) in our care!

🚨 Voth Family Therapy Cat of the Week - Thresher 🚨

In care for 269 days | $75 adoption fee

Thresher and his siblings in the Shark litter have had a tough start to their short life (he’s only 8 months old), but he’s been spending time in foster, learning what a loving, warm home is like! Here’s what they have to say about their houseguest:

“Thresher would do amazing in a house with kids!! He loves to get right into the games and activities like hot wheels or monster truck tracks, and one of his all time favourites is mini sticks!! He is also the best lap kitty and will cuddle up any chance he gets!!”

He’s friendly, confident, does well with kids and other cats. Our website is still down, so if you’d like to learn more call us at 204.822.9413 or email [email protected]
