IMPURRTENT MEWS! After almost a full year in our care, Appleton has been adopted! She spent time in foster, and it was a complete and total foster fail…our favourite kind of fail ❤️

We need a foster for Sky (and her emotional support rubber chicken)! She is currently recovering from her spay surgery and is soon going in for dental surgery…she will need a quiet and comfortable place to rest and recover.

When you’ve been in care as long as Silky, we can actually remember what Summer looked like.

Silky has been with us for 300 days now! She spent the summer and fall catching beautiful sunsets out of our shelter window, and she’s spent the long, grueling, soul-crushing, frostbitten, sunless, morale-shattering, icicle-laden, endless abyss of a pathe—sorry, the beautiful view had us unraveling.

Silly deserves to have a home of her own!

We asked Arrow what she’d like to put on her Pawnder profile, and she barked out the most random facts about herself. She’s convinced adopters don’t care about potty training or basic obedience.

When it came to choosing a photo, she requested one that showed her good side. She also argued that if her Veterinarian stumbled upon her profile, they wouldn’t notice she hasn’t lost any weight since her last visit. She claims the extra “layers” keep her warm on these cold nights, so, naturally, we have to keep feeding her treats on the regular.

❤️ IMPURRTENT UPDATE - Kitty Purry (now Willow) ❤️

“Willow, a dream come true. I have wanted a torti coloured cat all my life and finally at age 70 thanks to my dear husband it has come true. It is the best Christmas gift he could have given me. What a busy, precious, busy beautiful kitten she is, we had sort of forgotten how really busy and curious they are at this age. I have had to cover up several of my miniature dollhouses as she was busy rearranging the furniture, a small price to pay. My sheltie and her were friends from the get go and after two weeks Bob our mature cat has decided she can stay. Thank you Emily and the PVHS for all you do to give these animals a second chance at finding their forever home.”

This is Sky. Sky is a husky. Huskies are basically drama queens in fur coats. They act like they pay rent but refuse to listen to a single command. You tell a husky to sit, and suddenly it’s giving you a TED Talk on why it won’t.

They have enough energy to power a small city but will still pretend their legs are broken if they don’t feel like walking. And let’s be honest—no one actually owns a husky; you just live in their house.

Love is in the air, and some of our shelter animals are putting themselves out there the modern way—dating apps.

First up: Appleton, our longest stay cat at 11 months, and let’s just say… she did not hold back. We offered to help fine-tune her profile, but she hit ‘submit’ before we could even proofread.

The big game is underway from New Orleans, but in the Pembina Valley we have our own battle on the go…it’s our Be My Valentine fundraiser, and the cats are in the lead!

Make a $10 in honour of one of the animals in our care…that animal will get a special Valentine’s treat, and a heart on their kennel or cat room door. The animal with the most hearts at the end of the month will be the winner…although all animals will win thanks to your generosity!

Foster Friday Update - Bailey

Bailey is thriving in her foster home! Her family describes her as "very smart, very energetic and playful, but likes to nap too. She’s very curious and always trying to see what I’m doing in the kitchen, trying to help cook or sample dishes. She definitely keeps us on our toes."

But what really makes Bailey special is her loving nature. Her foster family shares that "if she’s been busy with a toy or napping, she likes to remind us she’s still here by getting up and making her rounds to give everyone a hug and kiss." She’s affectionate, gentle, and always eager to spread the love.

Bailey is looking for a home where she can continue to be her playful, affectionate self. Bailey is great with other dogs and currently in foster care with two other canine friends.
