Some really cool observations!
But....We still think people stress way to much about choosing their pup.
When its time for us to keep one from a litter, we just take whoever is left.
About 8 years ago, we started color coding our puppies by gender birth order simply as a way to keep track of them during the whelping process for our clients’ litters.
What started as an organizational system slowly turned into something really fascinating.
After helping raise over 75 litters and watching hundreds of puppies grow, mature, train, and come back through our programs over the years, we began noticing consistent personality patterns tied to the collar colors. Not in every puppy, and not as a guarantee, but often enough that it genuinely caught our attention.
For example:Light Pink females are very often natural leaders.Purple females are commonly the smallest and can be a little feistier and more strong-willed.Light Blue males are frequently the teddy bears of the litter.Green and Orange males are often some of the bigger, bolder boys.
The really interesting part is that the collars are assigned by gender birth order, not overall birth order. So every litter is completely different.
We’d absolutely love to see someone study this deeper from a behavioral science standpoint because after all these years, the patterns are hard to ignore.
Every puppy is still an individual, but it’s been fascinating to watch these trends repeat themselves over time.
