*** Puppies are NOT Christmas Presents ***

Every year there are videos of children getting to open their Christmas present- a little puppy. Everybody is happy and that little ball of fluff gets lots of hugs and kisses. There are websites on how to pack them properly- how to make it a great surprise.

A dog is not a gift, a dog is a responsibility. He's a long term commitment (10+ years!!) that takes up a lot of time and care. Especially puppies.
Unlike other holiday purchases, there are no refunds or exchanges on puppies and dogs, only serious, possibly dire consequences. Although the idea of a pet as a present may seem thoughtful, it is, in reality, thoughtless.

They take effort to train, to housebreak, and to socialize. Adult dogs need exercise, mental stimulation and training.
They can be a financial burden, costing unexpected vet bills, food, toys, and sometimes dog training hours. They require planning.
Where will the dog go, when the caregiver is sick? When he wants to travel? Even when he wants to go out and meet a couple of friends.
Dogs can spark allergies. The lease may not allow pets.

Please don't gift dogs. Dogs should be a well planned decisions.
