This Saturday we are celebrating our 2nd Annual Mother ( Figure's) Day plant and candle sale.

Last year was a blast, this year will be same same but different, because nothing is ever the same especially at Oh Snap!

Starts are ready, fresh produce is starting to come through. Vendor old and new will be here.

The old reliable candle maker will be on site as well with a restock of 4oz candles. A perfect size and price point for the special Mothering folks in your life. 😉

The free book box will be out and Jackie Bate memorial library is, as always freshly stocked .

If you didn't know vendor, tables are FREE and we are always looking for people who want to get involved with our little grass roots community market over here in South Nanaimo.

As a society, it’s not like we don’t have the land. Lawns are the single largest irrigated crop in North America. This means the space that our lawns occupy could provide enough land to literally quadruple the amount of fruits and vegetables grown. In addition to growing a bounty of beautiful vegetables for ourselves, we encourage you to sow a few extra seeds to support your local food shelf and sell them at our neighbourhood Market

At O.H.S.N.A.P. It is our mission to establish, based on the principles of mutual aid, A community minded co-operative focused on urban agriculture and sustainable living. We want to empower the community to discover and participate in a local food system that encourages healthy living, nurtures the environment and strengthens our communities food security. As members of O.H.S.N.A.P., we contribute our labour: by working together we build trust through cooperation and teamwork. This enables us to keep our living costs low while maintaining an abundant full life. We are committed to diversity and equality and oppose discrimination in any form.

Mutual aid builds confidence and capacity among communities to organise themselves in order to meet their own needs. At the same time, it produces tangible local ‘victories’ in the everyday struggles people face. It is our goal at O.H.S.N.A.P. to show people the results and improvements to material conditions through collective action. Through our actions and results we hope people are more likely to get involved and believe in the possibility of radical change. This is a movement that offers genuine and immediate support in the face of rampant landlordism, gentrification and miserable living conditions, at the same time holding a broader long-term vision for a better society. To make genuine progress towards a transformative living environment , we are trying to develop a method that can both respond to the real challenges people face and help overcome the pervasive cynicism about prospects for radical change amongst wider society.
