Xylitol can be found in a lot of products and it's now being labeled as Birch Sugar because it's extracted from Birch bark. It's toxic to dogs, cats and ferrets. Check your peanut butter ingredients before you give your animals any and if they get into something they shouldn't have, read the ingredients to know if you should get them to the vet right away!

We’re easing into the winter months with a lighter market schedule as we wait for sunnier days. ❄️☀️ Weather plays a big role, so here’s what you need to know:

📍 January & February Market Dates:

Nanaimo: January 8th & Februrary 12th
Duncan: January 11th & February 8th

We’ll be doing one market per month in Nanaimo and Duncan until the warmer weather returns. However, if it’s raining sideways 🌧️💨—you can bet we’ll be cozying up indoors and cancelling the market.

New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, but the loud fireworks can be stressful for our canine companions. Here are some tips to help your pup feel safe and secure during the festivities:

Create a Safe Space: Set up a cozy spot indoors where your dog can retreat if they feel anxious. Add their favourite blanket, toys, or even some calming music.
Stay Indoors: Keep your pup indoors during fireworks to reduce their exposure to loud noises and potential hazards.
Distract and Comfort: Engage your dog with a treat-dispensing toy or gentle playtime. Staying calm yourself can help reassure them.

Found this little infographic today. It's from the states, so I cropped the laws for each, as they do not apply in Canada. It would be nice if all countries that have Service Dog Laws would also have government issued ID for Service Dog Teams so that people can stop with the fake service dogs. I was at a market today (as a shopper) and there was a "Service Dog" there whom clearly wasn't a service dog - barking and whining for their owner to pick them up (the dog was about 4-5 lbs), jumping up on tables, jumping up at other people. Not Ok!
